I asked for spring and got summer YAY!

Well today was a gorgeous day in my neck of the woods 84 degrees!

So today I think I finally got the hang of pattern mixing. I used inverse patterns. I picked up these black and white pieces a few weeks ago while shopping. I thought the green sweater and it's white bejeweled border tied everything together nicely.

Thanks for looking!

Spring is finally here!

I am so happy that it was warm today -- the perfect Saturday spent shopping (J.Crew summer stuff -- you'll see it soon!) My macbook is 4 years old and needed a serious upgrade so we went to the apple store which is where my outdoor pics were taken today. DH picked up more shorts at Gap and BR, so everyone had a great shopping day today ;-)

I was surprised to note that the top and bottom are from Old Navy. The belt is Land's End and the shoes are Vera Wang Lavender.

Emerald Navy and cream

I love this combination. I am of course wearing it to invite spring to my neck of the woods. It seems to be working, upper 70's in the forecast by Monday. I am just glad to have the week over with. It's been a long one. Thanks for looking.

Cheery orange

Well, today I spent too much time in my head. So while nothing horrible happened I just felt horrible. Not even orange could lift my mood. Though today was a REALLY good hair day. I think I will keep it curly for tomorrow too. I managed to scoop up one of those fun bubble necklaces in aqua for a fair price. (J. Crew should be sued for how much they charge). Anyway this is what I wore. Thanks for looking!

Edit -- oops forgot to upload the picture ;-)

Can adult women project "pretty" and be taken seriously?

Deborah said in another post somthing I thought was interesting very interesting.  "... such a pretty look but not juvenile..does that make sense?" I think this idea completely makes sense because we've been trained to think of pretty as young, without substance or depth. I'm thinking the proverbial airhead.

It wasn't until I joined YLF that I realized that pretty could be grown up and didn't need to be just ballarinas, pink tulle and sparkles. What do you think?

Fun with solids

I am still trying to dress warmly and look like I am participating in spring. I layered a long-sleeved sweater over a short sleeve sweater. I really liked how the moss green looked against the sky blue. The navy also helps the sky blue pop and grounds the look. I thought the pearls would add a little light and point an arrow to my face. I added my butterfly pin to pick up all the colors. I promise I really do have prints in my wardrobe. :-) Thanks for looking!

WIW to shop with Mom

Today was a lovely sunny day. I decided to take my Mom up on a visit to the mall. She caught me off guard I had no idea what I was going to wear because I was lounging around the house in my pajamas with no intention of going anywhere. I have been pinning new casual looks trying to figure out different levels of casual for various events.  So this is a test run of this outfit. Tell me what you think. Too dressy for the mall or just right?

BTW...my mother and I had a great time -- shopping with DH is never as fun. It's the little things...

WIW in the rain

Well it rained cats, dogs and the kitchen sink here today. This is what I wore to brave the elements. I have styled the purple dress differently today. I liked the idea of playing with a low contrast color palette.  The first pictures are what I wore to and from work -- the last pictures are what I wore at work.
It's sort of mod ...

Yellow tipped sweater

Yes, I was channeling spring. The yellow sweater was channeling the sun, the print reminiscent of a garden trellis. The weather cooperated at least for a little while this morning; it was sunny and felt at least 60 degrees. So my hopes are raised that soon I'll be able to put away my socks and coats.

Here's what I'm wearing:
BR - yellow tipped sweater
Evan Picone - Essentials blouse
BR - cropped all-season wool trousers (yeah I was surprised they're 95% wool too ;-) )
Ellen Tracy - kitten heels

WIW 4.15.13

Today was springlike. It was rainy and mild with temperatures in the low 60's.  (sarcastic cheer ;-))   I planned this outfit 3 weeks ago when I bought these pieces -- it was reinforced when I found the same pieces paired together on Pinterest. Both pieces are from BR and the sheath dress is a nice mid-weight knit.
I think the white and navy sweater signal spring, but I think I can do something more inventive with this dress but I'm creatively tapped. Any suggestions?
