Black cream and green

So today, I spent 10 hours in the car with DH on a drive to Kansas City for DH's family reunion. This is what I wore for the trip. I drove the first 5 hours and had DH snap these photos while at a rest stop in Iowa. (then we switched and he drove)

I am wearing:
green v-neck cardi - J Crew
black tank - Old Navy
Black and cream tribal print skirt - Old Navy
Trusty Franco Sarto wedges in cognac (which looks nude on me.)

I love the feminine shape the belt and the full skirt provide to balance out the top. The green is specifically to add a pop of color.  Happiness factor pretty high especially with the skirt.

I can't believe you look this fantastic after five hours in the car! I usually look like a crumbly bumbly mess!! :)

    You rock the bright colours!

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

You look amazing. Can I fly you out to do a wardrobe consult? All of your outfits are so cool. Love the minty green against the black, gray, and white, and also love where you placed the skirt.

I also think it's cool that sandals that color are your nude--it looks really, really good.

Oh excellent! Did I tell you I was promoting black, white, and green? Lol!

The green looks delicious with this outfit, and I love the textured belt with the skirt.

Looks great! You look fresh as a daisy! Hope the reunion was a lot of fun!

The pop of green looks great with this outfit. The print on skirt is very interesting.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Wow......I love the printed skirt and the green cardi just adds that zing.
    You look fab :)

How can you look so stunning after 5 hrs. in the car?? HOW? I am so jealous! I spent 5 hrs. in the car driving to NJ last weekend, and, ahem, suffice it to say there are no usable outfit photos from that drive (a full hr. was spent crawling in traffic).

    Enjoy the family reunion!

This is travel look - after 5 hours?!?!? The post should come with a warning.

You are beautiful. Your outfit is so you - bold, feminine and joyful. I'm loving all the B&W of course, framed with the vibrant colour. The belt is so nice, the outfit would be plainer without it for sure. And great choice of neutral footwear. I love how the breeze adds movement to the skirt.

    Enjoy the family reunion.

That is a great car driving outfit.  The green is lovely on you and the belt makes your waist look so tiny!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

You look so fresh and beautiful! Glad to see your inspirational WIW's being posted again.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Look at you, so fresh and radiant even after driving for hours. The classic colors suits you to a tee, and the lines are feminine and fluid with enough structure but still comfy. Love this!

Lyn - I can't imagine you looking like a mess!

Karie - OK so my "secret" to looking good enough to take a picture after 5 hours in the car is I love driving. We took my car so I was comfy and could blast the radio and sing along (much to DH's dismay -- insert your favorite 80's guilty pleasure song here).

Adelfa - wardrobe consult or not I'd love to see you in the flesh.

Rachylou -- I loved your b/w and green yesterday (or was it the day before?) so if you're a promoter I'm a supporter ;-)

Ceit - We are going to the family dinner tonight and visiting his aunt and cousins in a few hours. We were so out of it last night that we just went to dinner and went to sleep. I'll be able to post about the family reunion more tomorrow.
Ornella - you like black and white too??? ;-) I would never have guessed. I can easily imagine you in this outfit and you would have found a beautiful crimson sweater to wear instead. I don't have a red summer sweater (note to self).

Runcarla - I am just so glad to be back.

Ingunn - I could not have said it better myself. You completely nailed why I loved this outfit.

What a beatiful look! You look like you arrived fresh to a modeling shoot, not like you just rode in a car for five hours! I'm in the crumbly car-ride group, plus stylish sea bands in lieu of bracelets.

  • claracluck replied 10 years ago

you look so fresh and vibrant how do you do that after 10hrs? I'd be a steaming puddle ! love that green on you I have been looking for a cardi in that colour in England but not had much luck.

  • claracluck replied 10 years ago

btw j crew are coming to the uk so problem solved!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

And she's Back!!!  Spot on as usual boy have i missed your WIWs.
I of course love this , how could I not when I recently did the black and white with pop of green?

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Iowa just got a facelift!  I  know that drive well --- my in laws are in Lawrence (and DH and I are Jayhawks).  You look vibrant, comfortable and ladylike.

    Have a great Reunion!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

TraceyLiz - yes indeed I saw that WIW and it definitely influenced my choice to go with a green sweater over any other color.

Beth Ann -- yeah its kind of a familiar drive for me too because I was a recruiter for an insurance company with a regional HQs in Overland Park - Kansas was my home base. I spent lots of time in KC, Olathe, and Wichita ( I know the drive down 35 well! It's a little like coming home because I really enjoyed my business trips here I even considered relocating here before I met DH. (Go Jayhawks! -- I'm an Illini girl myself)

DV- So glad you're back- I've missed you! Your fabulous style is like a breath of fresh air. LOVE the black and white print with the accent of bright green!
    You look gorgeous as always!

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

Color me happy because I have missed your outfit posts so much! I think I will name this outfit "Grasshopper Pie" because that's what it reminds me of. Lovely, and that skirt is drool-worthy. Have fun at the reunion!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

You look stunning. I hope you enjoy your time in Kansas City in spite of the humidity. It's wonderful to have you back posting your outfits.

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous combination and what a great way to look so fresh after a long trip! I usually look like I just rolled out of bed at the frat house after that long a trip in the car.

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

Okay.  Five hours of driving and I can't find my smile, never mind rock an outfit.

You look so great. Hope it was a fun day.

  • Jenava replied 10 years ago

I do love that skirt on you!  I can see why it's a favorite.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Beautiful and Fresh - you look radiant!
