camo + burgundy

I've taken my tunic and skinnies formula and applied it to these 2 old pieces. I think I've had them both for nearly 2 yrs never put them together until now. Of course both pieces now have new life. I also love these colors together.

Happy Thursday!

Love these colors together. Way to go by finding a new combo from existing pieces!

Great to be able to do this. Another wonderful look.

Wow! This is really fresh and original! I love it!

You are wearing more tunics than in the past, I guess because of being at home and such -- it's a great idea.

Do you miss the structure, or do you find it's enough for your at-home fashion persona?

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Suz- you are correct I am wearing more tunics. I think it works for my at home style because of the structure in the shoulder and waist (sometimes).  I think it's casual enough for the situations I encounter day-to-day and polished enough for the core of my personal taste.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Yes, I was going to add that this one, in particular, has the structure at the shoulder. Also, the leather detailing and scrunched sleeves add a bit of "extra" to the look for sure.

I primarily wear knits for my at-home work capsule, at least in the cool weather. (In summer I wear wovens). But I get much more structured and polished when I am out in the world. It's the same core style but a different emphasis. Maybe you are similar?

Love the formula!  Very stylish MOTG.

So creative! I love this look and will be trying this color combo myself!

Fabulous MOTG style! Love the burgundy with the camo skinnies, especially with the touch of leather trim.

Love this! Those two pieces look very of the moment together.

Suz - I had to take a moment to think about when I like structure and how I like "being" when I'm not in professional settings. I think structure while being a core style preference is also a way for me to project "professional" and/or "in control". Mood and audience also influence my outfit choices.
So if I'm feeling "exuberant" in a very professional setting I'm likely to wear a dark pant suit (very structured)  with jewel-toned accents where the same feeling in a party situation would lead me to a favorite color combo, dress, or accessory of the moment. The level of structure is dependent on the level of polish required.

    Great remix :)

Very cool tunic, and I love it with the camo skinnies! I'm with you--love this color combo. You have a way of making this at-home "uniform" of yours very chic-looking.

Breathing new life into older pieces, I love it! Are those the Target reversible skinnies? I remember when you first posted them and I immediately hopped in the car and ran over to Target to get a pair. They were sold out of the camo style at my Target :(

    Fantastic!

But we need a baby picture... ;)

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Karie - yes these are those reversible jeans ... (you remembered :-D). I can't take complete credit for this color combination. I have a pin where a woman is wearing camo and a burgundy sweater -- she looked like the epitome of fall.

Firecracker - I am trying very hard not to devolve into stained 10 year old jammies all day everyday. I am reminding myself of my motto "I don't live in a museum"; therefore nothing I own is precious. Initially I was hesitant about wearing complete outfits when all I planned to do was stay home with the baby. However I own nothing that I can't throw in the wash so a bit of drool an other bodily fluids won't ruin anything. Plus it makes me happy to spend some time making myself pretty.

MsMary - just for you here's my latest favorite baby picture.

The headband with your outfit just takes it from extremely good to great. (Little DV also looks perfect with her headband.)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Day, your little girl is already a fashionista. So precious! I love your outfit. Does it work well for nursing (asking since my DIL is looking for ideas)

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Joy - I have no good outfit recommendations for nursing since I pump exclusively. On some of the mommy blogs I read people were really into the quick release tank combined with v-neck tops.

That baby is a true charmer!

It would be so easy to spend days that are mostly at home in jammies.  I graded math in mine today (at 9:30).  I've got two safeguards:  a good loungewear capsule, and taking time every 2-3 weeks to make some new casual FFBO pairings.

Love your tunic/legging pairings.  The proportions are flattering and comfortable and the colors are so rich and lovely.
