Emerald and Cobalt

I was running late again yesterday morning and snapped this photo in the ladies room at work. I was inspired by a catalogue -- of course it was advertising the holiday line. I've always loved green and blue together. Cobalt and emerald are simply intensified versions of that combination. I really want either a blackwatch plaid jacket or pants, but this combination fed the immediate need nicely. I hope you all are enjoying your Saturday.

I guess I should mention what I am wearing:

  • BR jewel tipped cardigan in emerald
  • August Silk cobalt turtleneck
  • Talbot's velvet navy trousers
  • Franco Sarto black booties

Two all-time favorite colors, together at last!

Festive indeed! You are setting me into the holiday mood :).

This is a wonderful look on you! The emerald and cobalt have similar visual weight and don't look choppy together. The effect is so harmonious. I like that you put them with navy.

In about 1970 my mom found a jacquard fabric in cobalt and emerald and made me pants and a matching long vest. That outfit is in my personal hall of fame. Thanks for the memory!

Love! You look festive, but not Christmasy. I hope that makes sense. :)

    Stunning combination.

Velvet trousers - how luxurious! The color combo looks fantastic on you.

Beautiful color combo.  I love your velvet trousers --- they add a bit of cozy luxury to a work look!

    Those colors are fabulous together!

Gorgeous! The white belt is a stroke of genius, and I love the pants are navy and not black--such a lovely blend of colors together.

    Beautiful colours.

Some day, somehow, I'll wear my own take on this outfit... divine. You come up with the best combinations.

Cobalt and emerald is a great color combination (note to myself; you need to stock on both so you can wear them together).
You look gorgeous, Day. I feel so frumpy in cardigans but they looks very chic on you.

I like this a lot-- the cobalt and emerald are balanced just right, and the velvet trousers are so elegant. Your white belt crisply echoes the color and shape of the pretty trim on your sweater. You look great!

This is lovely. Sveta's right - you have a real knack for making a cardigan look polished and elegant. I have always loved green and blue together, too. I used to have my bedroom wallpapered in stripes of those colours when I was a kid.

    Festive and elegant agreed!

love you in this color combo - I'm always envious of those who wear cobalt well!! - and with the emerald it really shines on you

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Lovely colours and you do wear knits beautifully.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

These colors are spectacular together. Navy velvet trousers enhance the richness of the colors. I like the bit of white too.

Love this color combo! And especially like it on you.  Well done.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have learned with cardigans that many manufacturers make them larger than I like. Believe it or not many of my cardigans are sized medium and small. Too much volume and they tend to look shapeless on me.

You look amazing, but I always say that.  I'll have to work on other adjectives to describe you.

I love that you are using blackwatch plaid for your inspiration.  The bling on the emerald cardigan and navy velvet pants are festive but not over the top.  As always it's your incredible eye for colour that jumps out of the picture.

Fantastic color combo! I love the emerald sweater!

    Very pretty outfit.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Very sleek and I like the way the belt and the sweater placket work together.

Any thread with emerald and cobalt immediately gets my attention, and your outfit doesn't disappoint! You look beautiful in those colors, and I like the graphic lines of your outfit.
