Favorite Dress Remixed

This is my favorite dress. It's Old Navy and I've had it for the past 3 or 4 years. The last time I wore it and posted on the forum I revealed that I rarely wore the dress in any different way. I took some of your suggestions and came up with this. I am really happy this dress still fits (because I bought it so HUGE!). I think I will be able to wear it right up until delivery. The saving grace is this dress is fit and flare and lends itself to being cinched at the waist with a belt.

In #1 & #2 I'm wearing:

  • ON butterfly printed dress
  • ON denim jacket
  • Mossimo woven belt
  • Vintage yellow and white striped scarf
  • Vera Wang snake embossed ballet flats
  • Kenneth Cole Reaction orange tote

Pic #3 is my normal way of wearing this dress - your thoughts and suggestions?

Ah, I was kicking myself for missing this dress! :) I love it on you - and I love your pregnancy glow :)

That dress is so pretty! It looks gorgeous with that green cardi, but I do love it with the jean jacket and scarf too - very fresh for spring! Gorg as always DV!

Torontogirl - my preference is with a bright cardi (lover of vivid shades here) but last year when I wore this outfit I solicited the forum for different ideas on how to wear this as I without fail would wear this dress with a green cardi, red shoes, leather belt, and bright bag. I needed a heftier topper this morning because temps were in the 50's and then climbed to the low 70's

I think it can play with almost any colour of topper - I'd wear it with my leather jacket ... or navy cardigan :)

I love this dress on you, gorgeous lady! It reminds me of my favorite china. It seems many colors of toppers would work well with this. The green cardi is springy and lovely. I don't know if you have a red cardi and flats but that could be fun. I have nothing to add about the belt, I like the placement and width of the one you chose.

How nice that you can wear different toppers with your favorite dress. I think I have the same bright cardigan preference as you.

Love it both ways!  It definitely started cool today -- I hope you missed the hail!  I kept looking outside, thinking it might total my Van, which given it's decrepit condition could be a good thing.

    A pretty Summer dress.

May I suggest leaving off the belt ?

Lyn* - I have a navy cardi I think I'll try it out when I wear this dress next

Beth Ann -- Oh NO! We didn't get hail in my neck of the woods. I hope everything is ok. We had some sprinkles, mostly overcast and definitely deliciously warm.

Angie - I will try without a belt the next time I wear it. Normally no matter how tightly I cinch the built in tie I can't get the dress to look anything but like a shapeless mass. That has changed -- so perhaps I don't need my belt as security blanket next time.

What a happy dress, I can see why you like it. I would like to see it with a smaller or no belt (I cannot imagine wearing a belt while pregnant - I was quite bewildered by Goldenpig with all her belts, but I am projecting.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I thought exactly that. Your shape has changed and the drape over your belly will probably work quite well.

Such pretty colours in the print. I love butterflies. You look great DV!
