I heart jackets

Many of my looser tops have batwing, dolman, or kimono sleeves making jackets or sweater difficult to wear over them. As a result I hadn't really thought about what jackets will work best with what. This was a pleasant surprise.

Here I'm wearing tee with a banded bottom from Old Navy. Without the jacket the look was cute but too unstructured for my taste when I added the jacket (which was hiding in the back of my closet) the outfit worked for me. I think this is more in the mode of my old style so I'll enjoy it for as long as I can. I'm wearing:

Old Navy Maternity tee
Mossimo printed jacket
Banana Republic flocked skinny jeans
(trusty) Timberland Bethel buckle combat boots

    Jackets heart you.

    What Lyn said!

It is going to be so interesting to watch your style evolve through this momentous passage to motherhood. I am sure that if anyone can dress in style throughout, it is you.

Nice! I can't believe you're still able to wear your skinny jeans! Don't forget the hair band trick to get a couple extra weeks out of them. Push a regular pony tail holder through the button hole, then slip both loop ends over the button for an extra couple of inches for baby.

I like the print on that jacket.

Carter - oh yes that has to be one of my favorite tips! I do that when I wear my belly band and jeans in my regular size that only my belly has outgrown.  I am able to wear these jeans ONLY because I bought them a size larger than my regular size, these are also midrise (nice girdling effect -- my belly fits completely inside the jeans) and they have lots of give. I have 2 more pairs that fit like this. I guess I really prefer straight leg jeans and sizing up and buying extra long leg lengths was the only way to get skinny jeans to fit like straight legs on me.

What? You're preggers? Congratulations!!! That's wonderful, and it doesn't look like your style is going to suffer at all. Putting an open jacket on over that top was a great idea for adding structure, since the top is still really big on you. I'm looking forward to your maternity posts! How exciting. :D

Fantastic look !  I love, love the jacket.  Which gets me thinking, most people are afraid of monsters lurking in the closets.....you have magic in yours.   : )

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

Great look!  I think the jacket and necklaces really spruce up the white tee.

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Wow, congratulations! That is so exciting. You look terrific in that jacket (I love them, too).

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous jacket! Why was it hiding in the back of your closet? Bring it up front pronto, it's too pretty to hide!

  • gryffin replied 10 years ago

Love it, Love it, love it!!  Day vies you look fantastic!!  Such a cute jacket and I love how you styled it.  Elegant but simple.  Perfect with the silver necklaces etc.  You look wonderfu land I hope you are feeling well!!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Wow! The jacket transforms a basic tee and jeans look, although you have already made it special with the banded waist tee and flocked jeans. I hope you are feeling as great as you look.

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

Nice jacket! You look fab in skinny jeans, still!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

    Claire - Yes it's true! (Don't tell DH :-p)

Karie - it's a really thin jacket and for the most part there has been a polar vortex hanging over my neck of the woods. I'm glad I pulled it out. I wanted more print.

Gryffin - I'm feeling pretty normal now. I just afternoon need naps on most days and have an aversion to my beloved desserts and other sweet goodies. :-(
