I just couldn't stay away

Perhaps it was my utter boredom with my skinny jeans combined with the gloomy weather today -- Friday of all days. I had a doctor's appointment this morning and did not feel motivated to leave the house. I knew I had to change things up, so I unearthed my floor skimming trousers jeans which aren't nearly as stretchy as my skinny jeans. I missed the long line they created because I'd given up on them in February when I could no longer zip or button them. However, thanks to a hair band and a belly band my pants are securely in place and I've got my signature look back. (YAY!)

I thought it might be nice to try an outfit with secondary colors. Especially since it's so cool out and doesn't look or feel like spring. The colors are more fall but they are compelling -- which is always the goal. I'm wearing and entire Old Navy outfit albeit from different years.

  • ON dark wash trouser jeans (non-maternity)
  • ON indigo knit jersey turtle neck
  • ON olive green shawl collar cardi
  • Miz Mooz tall cognac boots
  • Kenneth Cole Reaction orange tote
Let me know what you think!

Your legs! Miles! You and Natalie make pregnancy look better than anyone!

You look fantastic! Olive and cobalt is a major color crush of mine.  Along with olive and teal. And olive and pink. And olive and red. And olive and plum. (I like olive.) I can't wear olive near my face, so I'm just a smidge jealous.  You look beautiful, DV. This really suits you.

    Those jeans are super-flattering.

K.Period. - you are so funny. I read your comment thinking ah that's a really nice olive combo, so is that, and that, and that --  then you mentioned you happened to just love olive. Yep, that's obvious ;-)

Well I love the colors, especially with that orange tote, amazing.     And your legs look great in those pants.  Plus the eyewear -- stunning.  I've been looking for a sunglass version of similar white-topped frames, I think Andrea W wears some like that too, but so far no luck.

You look amazing. And you're so, so creative! I have to remember this colour combination, I think I may have something to try and pull it off. And the tote to bind it all together - pure genius.

The first thing I noticed was your fantastic glasses. Then I saw your long, oh-so elegant jeans and didn't think you even look pregnant. I love the warmth of the olive green cardigan and the energy the orange bag brings to this outfit.

Your looking long and elegant, DV!  Love the color combo and the wider leg pants --- so refreshing, aren't they?

I agree--a wonderful flattering outfit, and it does make you look sleek and streamlined.

You look amazing and that's true YLF creativity to use the bands to wear what you love.  Angie would be so please to see those hems of your just skimming the ground.  Love those colors and I also wore cobalt yesterday.  Hope it helped you to put the gloomy weather in its place.

Beautiful. I love the secondary color pairing.  Very nice and stylish!

These are wonderful jeans and they look great on your legs.

Ornella - If I have inspired a color combination then my work is done. I'm glad you like it -- The orange was my attempt to lift the color palette out of the doldrums. Clearly it worked.

Windchime - The glasses are there to distract from the fact I am not wearing make up (too tired :-)) I love these frames and I'm convinced I won't find another that's as practical for my purposes and as stylish.

Beth Ann - YES - this is a refreshing change back to my core style preferences. I generally like skinny jeans only during warmer weather because I prefer them with ballet flats and sandals not heavy boots. I also got a little tired of the volume on top silhouette.

Vicki - I agree, these are Angie approved hems. They hoover just above the floor -- there's no awkward break between the hem and the shoe. It's definitely my preferred look. There is no way to have the same leg-lengthening effect with skinny jeans.
