I love teal and yellow!

Nothing I wore today came from the maternity department. My skirt is hitched up pretty far and it seems that my teal tee is acting to give me a dropped waist. I rather like the effect. Additionally I love butterflies and they are featured in the print on my skirt. I thought my yellow tote was a nice counterpoint to my teal tee. I felt like I was participating in fashion today and not sitting in maternity exile.
I'm wearing:

  • Apt. 9  tee in Teal
  • H&M print skirt
  • Liz Claiborne yellow tote
  • tan lace ballet flats
I've included a bonus pic of another teal and yellow outfit I wore last weekend.

Maternity exile, hee!  You are a like a fresh summer breeze!  I've never tried teal and yellow before, but I might now!

Awe not maternity exile. Oh well you look beautiful and well appointed as usual. The colors in pic 2 are beautiful on you.

You are a colour mixologist of the first order! I am crushing on your LC bag and Channelesque topper in the last picture.

I love that color combo!! And you are just so gorgeous and fashionable pregnant!

No way are looking like you are in maternity exile! It is amazing how you manage without maternity clothes and in your 3rd trimester too. This is a great girl-on-the-go look.

LOL "...participating in fashion today and not sitting in maternity exile."

How clever to wear the skirt higher - who'd know?

I would be interested to read at some point how what seemed like limitations maternity style changed (if it did) your regular style.

    YLF, in any case.

I agree with everyone. Super colors that look very fab on you!

I am also a big fan of yellow. I was surprised when I realized how much I liked it. Yay, yellow! :)

Maternity exile? No way! This is another gorgeous outfit. The colors look fantastic on you. What a cute butterfly skirt (I am wearing a butterfly shirt today).

Shevia - I think that's why I feel like I'm in exile. Only so many of the clothes that fit me are colorful. If I rounded up all of my maternity clothes in a pile on the floor all you would see is navy, black and gray with a bit of white thrown in. Very depressing especially since the weather where I am is so warm.

Beth Ann - I think teal and yellow would work so well for you. I'd love to see what you come up with. It's my colored tanks and tops that no longer fit that I mourn because it's not like I'm going to run out and buy more. That means I have to find another source of color.

Runcarla - I was a little concerned about the tank being longer than the sweater but it worked out it gives me this faux cropped look. Faux because the tank is just LONG (on me) and the sweater is regular length.

Joy - I was not expecting to be able to manage without an extensive maternity wardrobe. I thought I would burst out of all my regular clothes by month 5. The truth is my maternity bottoms didn't really fit until month 7 without the help of a belly band and my maternity tops have been fairly consistent if not a bit big (but I still have a little more than 6 weeks to go and grow ;-) ).

Ornella - I think the one thing I have realized with my maternity style that might stick with me is I can feel fully dressed without so many accessories, and I don't need as much contrast to feel like myself (I can get by with less). I just wonder if I will choose to get by with less when it's all over. Hmmm.

Ambergreen - Yellow is a surprise isn't it? It's not what comes to mind when you think sophisticated "grown up" colors. I just like how it grabs your attention but not in an over the top way that red or orange can at times.

Karie - Butterflies featured in a print are the surest way to get me to buy anything. I also have SEVERAL butterfly brooches and pins (people know me well).

Lovely and very clever! I like how the bag and top pick out colors in the skirt. I love how you mix colors and tie them together.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

You are extremely resourceful as well as being incredibly stylish. Plus, teal and yellow love you.

Such vibrant colors and the skirt is so nice and floaty for summer. A friend of mine wore a yellow sheath dress the other day that was gorgeous on her. What about some brightly colored shoes or sandals to brightn and offset the neutrals of your maternity wardrobe?

And it loves you right back! This looks fab on you DV and I'm so impressed by how you're able to work your "regular" clothes.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Ooh, I like teal and yellow too. That's a new combo for me.

No wonder, you look gorgeous in teal and yellow! Makes me want to try it.
