Modern Classic Outfit From My Fall Capsule

So unfortunately the start date for my assignment got pushed back to Friday 9/27. But I will take a Friday over no day :-) As a result daily outfit posts won't start until then.

But I was able to get out of the house in record time because I reached for one of my capsule outfits. It's now cool enough to start wearing those outfits so I am pretty excited. (Barely any jewelry needed) I went to pick out a new rug in anticipation of my party next month. I found the perfect rug (on sale!) to go with subtle beach theme in my living room (no obvious shells and starfish!).

I realized I am quite used to seeing myself in my skinnies and wide-leg jeans. Today I am wearing my boot cuts and it's a little jarring. I haven't worn them in at least six months. Have any of you had the same reaction to your boot cuts?

Your legs look miles long in those bootcuts, girlfriend! You look fantastic - is there anything you can't wear well?! I currently don't own any bootcuts so I don't know what my reaction would be to seeing myself in them (gagging comes to mind, lol)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Yes! Same reaction. I tried on my slight boot legs today and immediately took them off. You were braver than I am and you look great. I love the pristine white shirt with the other pieces

The bootcuts are very flattering on you. I plan on pulling mine out for fall, too. You look fab!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

You look fantastic! But yes, I do understand that reaction to bootcuts, Even though you look great in them. It's a weird phenomenon. It takes our eyes a while to adjust!

YLF. I don't have any either so I don't have that particular problem :)

I only wear trouser or bootcut. My calves are too fat for skinny jeans (they look bad plus they feel uncomfortable) and I look like an ice cream cone. I love this look on Day Vies. Mile long legs.

Karie - I doubt that the forum would gag to see you in bootcuts.

Joy/Suz - I thought it was just me. I guess adjustment takes time for new looks as well as old ones.

Sleek modern classic, simple, clean and very flattering. I rotate the bootcuts in frequently so there's no jarring sensibilities. For some reason, though, I am not remembering you wearing a classic button-down. But my memory's half-gone, so there's that. Anyway, a great outfit for fall!

    Looking lovely though!
Does your jacket collar stay 'popped'?

  • deb replied 10 years ago

    Love the bootcuts.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

They are subtle bootcuts and look fantastic on you. I have the same reaction seeing myself in any jeans at all after all these months in (long) shorts. You look fab!

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

Wow you do have mile long legs! I too don't have any boot cuts but if they could give me those legs I'd be shopping this minute!

  • viva replied 10 years ago

    Your legs look fantastic!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Wow!  those legs are looking good!!!  I had that reaction to my trouser jeans I wore for my girl's night out this weekend...

  • Scarlet replied 10 years ago

You look super sharp as always. I still like bootcuts even though I wear skinnies much more often.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Mochi - No your memory isn't half gone. I generally don't wear button downs in the summer and probably have not worn one on the forum since early spring.

LynD - no the collar doesn't stay popped but I find I like it like that with this combo since it's SO classic. I need flair somewhere.

Shevia -  I am glad I'm not alone. I just never expected to feel so odd with this silhouette.

TraceyLiz - I'm never going too long without my trouser jeans ;-) I love them too much. I'll be wearing a pair tomorrow.

Day Vies, this is a beautiful example of modern classic dressing.

  • Vickie KY replied 10 years ago

I am having the same reaction with boot cut jeans. Fortunately booth styles are still in.
Your whole outfit is great. I am excited to be wearing fall items as well.

    Classic and lovely!

A gorgeous, classic look.  I really like the white shirt here, nice and crisp looking.  I've been mixing in my bootcuts all along as I've adopted other styles such as skinnies.  It took my eye a long time to adjust but now I enjoy all styles equally.

    Fabulous and sleek casual outfit.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

These bootcuts look quite modern -- the flare is modest, the rise is medium, and the fit isn't skintight.  I love the bit of burgundy in the shoes!

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

Very lovely on you!  The clean lines and muted colors are a nice classic mix.  I'm used to seeing you in brighter colors - or maybe, just more color?  but you look really great in this.  You know - I haven't had my bootcuts out for 2 years now so I have no idea how I would feel if I pulled them out again - think I'll have to try them!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

You look great, DV! I understand that the bootcuts feel different, but trust me, you wear them like no other. Crisp, polished and modern classic.

  • carolbee replied 10 years ago

I don't really have an opinion on the bootcuts but want to say that I am loving you in these classic looks of tops and jackets, such as this post and your other one at the art exhibition - YLF.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Marley - You're right I usually wear more color. This is pretty neutral for me. I think the red shoes made this feel more like something I would wear all the time.

  • Cindy replied 10 years ago

YLF in your bootcuts! I am wearing mine today, too. I don't have a problem with bootcut jeans since I've been wearing them for years. It's the straight and skinny jeans that took a while to get used to. LOL  Since I've joined the forum I have learned to like the look of a pointed toe shoe with the longer jeans.
