Pastels may be in but I prefer vivid colors

I wore this to run errands yesterday. I also realized that I will never love pastels more than I love my vivid colors especially when paired with navy. This look may not be on trend but it's definitely representative of my personal style.
The only thing that's maternity in this outfit is the navy tee.
I'm wearing:

  • ON green boyfriend sweater
  • ON navy maternity tee
  • White skort (scored 2 weeks ago! )
  • Aqua Crocs
  • Yellow LC tote
  • Yellow skinny belt
Happy Thursday!

I love your vivid colours!! I am definitely a vivid colour gal too!

Love how you're staying true to your elements during your (glowing) pregnancy! Look! It's even belted! And the belt matches your bag! And you have a cute cardigan!!! And an adorable smile!!!!

Ooooh! I love vivid colours. You rock them like nobody's business. Navy, green and yellow. Swoon!

  • Jenny H replied 10 years ago

I'm with you 100% on team vivid colors. Vivid colors make me squeal with delight. Pastels make me yawn. You look lovely!

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

A girl after my own heart :-) You do have a way with any colour, but I hear you about vivid ones and I also think that they look better on you. But, I love the way you wear all colour, it's playful, imaginative and nothing left to chance.

Pairing navy and green will always cheer me up, and adding yellow is so pretty. All grounded with white, how clever and perfect for summer.

    p.s.
I thought of you today, I wore my butterflies scarf :-)

I like the brighter colors on you also. I was thinking about you last night, How are you feeling?

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

You are singing my song...really don't like the predominance of pastels in stores since spring.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Lyn* - you've got me pegged and you listed all the elements! (I'm not sure I even knew what they were ;-))  Without a belt my maternity tops are just too shapeless -- my apple-y goodness is even more apparent with pregnancy.

Mona - you're a woman after my own heart. I enjoy looking at pastels, I appreciate their prettiness but I'm firmly on team vivid.

Jenny H - Yawning with you!

Ornella - Aww, you wore butterflies today! I am definitely sentimental about butterflies. I certainly appreciate all colors but nothing gets me excited like a bright vivid hue. I think it shows, which is why I look better in them.

Deb - I am feeling a bit weighed down :-p of late. The baby doubled in size over the past 2 weeks! Overall things are progressing nicely. I am so pleased that summer is temporarily on pause. We have not cracked 70 degrees in a couple days -- though the humidity is very high. Only 5 more weeks to go (more or less), and I have not yet had to give up my wedding rings or current shoe size. Fingers crossed that doesn't change.  I'm just so excited.

Peri - thank goodness fashion is cyclical! We'll have our day in the sun soon.

Rhonda, I am so glad everything is going well. My fingers are crossed that you were your ring until the end. I am excited for you also. Take care of yourself.

You look amazing in these colours. No wonder you love them. Mind you, I also think you look amazing in pastels and neutrals!

So glad you're feeling good. That weighed down feeling is bound to happen some, but with luck you will avoid too much of it. I know the heat really must make it worse.

Vivid is most assuredly for you, lovely.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

High five, Team Vivid! :-) You are looking so marvelous through this pregnancy. That white skirt is adorable, and how crisp it makes the whole outfit with the contrast with the saturated colors. Well done!

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

Wow- 5 weeks to go!  YLF.  Love the glow and your signature colors are carrying you through in style.

Great look and hope you feel well all the way.

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

I think vivid colors will always be in style for you. You rock them like nobodies business.

  • MRL replied 10 years ago

Day - those colors are great on you! Although certain pastel colors are on trend I prefer to think of them as "options". I am a strong believer in wearing colors that flatter and make you happy.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

The pregnancy style on this forum today is incredible. The yellow belt is a touch of genius. Stick with vivids, they love you!

  • replied 10 years ago

I'm with you! Pastels are rarely my friends.

The brighter colors set off with white look so vibrant on you!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

This is so fresh and fun!  Vibrant done right!  I like that you're wearing and open neckline and shorter skirt.  Sometimes people have a tendency just to see an expectant mom's belly -- not the rest of her.  An appropriate amount of skin helps us see the whole you, if that makes sense.  I

You're looking amazing!  Let's home for continuing cool weather!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Beth Ann -- I think you make a great point about the open neckline and shorter skirt. It makes it hard to focus just on the belly when there are other elements of the outfit to consider. I do feel that many inexpensive maternity pieces are particularly drab (either shapeless, or lacking in striking colors) and put all of the focus on one's belly to the point that the woman fades into the background. I feel that I have to work harder to create visual interest and the right proportions when I wear a maternity top.

Those colors love you back, Day Vies! The white skort is so fab with the navy and brights, and I like how it shows off your amazing legs. Love the matching shoes and cardi. I agree with Beth Ann--this outfit draws eyes on you as a whole. Wow, a double in the baby's size in the last two weeks? Sheesh, I'm extra impressed at how great you're looking.

  • Suja replied 10 years ago

Vivid colors look great on you!

I prefer them over pastels too.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Firecracker - I was surprised myself when they told me the baby's weight. She won't be wearing newborn clothing for long (if at all!).

Suja - What surprises me the most about pastels on my skin tone is how close to a neutral they appear. I was shocked when I discovered that when I wear lavender it looks like a nude on me, same with dusty rose. This is probably why I'll never wear these colors alone (if at all) and without a strong pattern.
