Python Prints and Memories of Wedded Bliss

I wore these python printed pieces (blouse and shoes) to a recent doctor's appointment. I thought this outfit worked out rather well. It's rather neutral but I thought the print saved it from being utterly boring. Only the pants are maternity. Given the small universe of maternity pieces I have I marvel at the idea that any of my regular clothes look appropriate and fit well at 32 weeks. This blouse has a twin in gray because I could not decide which one I liked better. I can actually button the front over my belly but not my bust line which I find hilarious.
I'm wearing:

  • ON scoop neck tee in beige (not the soul-sucking kind, well maybe it is but the python saves it I think)
  • ON python print chiffon blouse in beige
  • LOFT maternity jeans
  • Vera Wang python print ballet flats
In other topics today June 7, is my fifth wedding anniversary. We are spending the day together doing tourist-y things in our fair city. I thought I would share with the forum a few of my favorite memories from my wedding day.

Happy Saturday and thanks for walking down memory lane with me :-)

Happy Anniversary! I feel the love. Those wedding photos are just beautiful, the bride, the groom, the flowers, the location. Many more blessed years together... and with the new addition(s).

Thank you Claudia and Neel. I thought we had a fabulous photographer. DH had to talk me into getting one (admittedly I didn't see the need) and ironically enough her maiden name happened to be Davies too!

Day Vies, you are beautiful in the soft grays and python print, and your jeans are just fab on you. Love that you have the matching shoes!
Your wedding photos are stunning, and my eyes are a little watery looking at them. You have the most beautiful, happy smile, and so does the handsome groom. Happy anniversary! Glad you're enjoying the day.

Thank you all for your Anniversary wishes! It's been a fabulous day so far.

TraceyLiz - I really think the bust line confuses people. It's kind of at that is she or isn't she point. I am sure within the next 8 weeks it will become abundantly obvious to all onlookers that YEP she definitely is!  Now, depending on what I wear it's obvious but most of the time I think I just look round (i.e. fat) to people.

    Suz
    - The flowers were chosen for me. We had a destination wedding in Hawaii. I had no idea what exactly they would look like (I was told they would be in-season) until the morning of. I thought everything turned out perfectly even though we were completely hands off. We did choose to be married in a particular garden (which we never visited before), which restaurant (also never visited) and left the details to the planners. It was the best compromise between big splashy wedding (which I refused to plan), and eloping (no planning at all). I try to remember the biggest life lesson I learned from that day, which is easy to forget in our instant-gratification, need-to-know-now society -- you don't need to know exactly how it will all happen to be perfectly satisfied with the result. Worrying about the dress and whether it would be ready to leave with me on the plane was stressful enough.

    Aubergine
    - The dress was slightly modified by my dress maker. Ordered it from the manufacturer but she customized it for me. I had no idea that in addition to filling in the plunging neckline (I was not interested in providing a peep show at my wedding) she was adding a sheer layer of chiffon hand-stitched with iridescent beads to create a heftier strap and fill-in for the neckline and the deep V down the back of the gown. She really understood how to show my body off to the best advantage while keeping my style in mind.

Ladywone - Yeah, I think the color combination of beige and denim is a little ho-hum on it's own definitely not soul-sucking with a python print. But I can't say "beige" on this forum with out preceding it with "soul-sucking" as this is where I first learned about the phrase (which tickles me every time I think about it).
JamC - Happy Anniversary to you too! I hope you're doing something you enjoy with your husband today. It's funny I never set out to be a traditional June bride, or have super traditional gender roles in my marriage but here I am - proof that you can never quite plan what true happiness will look like.

So very lovely. You and your husband are completely charming and gorgeous. Congrats on five years...this past one has been special and will only get better! Thanks for sharing your happiness.

  • Ginkgo replied 9 years ago

Happy Anniversary, Day Vies!  You are the most gorgeous, handsome couple ever!

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

What a gorgeous wedding.  Elegant simplicity and much joy!  I love the flowers, and the details in the neckline of your dress.  It "frames" you beautifully, but lets you shine.  DH looks amazingly sharp in his white, too!!

I carried my DS much like you --- I felt like I got broader across the torso, and I never popped out in front in a real noticeable way.  I had only one pair of maternity pants.  DS's feet were always in my ribs, though.  Not so great for singing, particularly!

I'm so glad you've kept posting your fabulous maternity style.  I think it's so helpful to see women working their dressing in a way that works for their unique bodies and lifestyle.

Can't wait to see Baby DV!

  • Susie replied 9 years ago

Such gorgeous wedding photos! You look utterly radiant and, best of all, so HAPPY! I love what you said about not worrying about the how; sometimes trusting that the end results will be fine is all that we need to do.

And I can't believe that you are 32 weeks! Your pregnancy has gone really fast for me :)

  • Kristin L replied 9 years ago

Happy (slightly late) anniversary! You and your DH look wonderful. And the python top look amazing on you.
