What's your favorite color combination?

I am finding that my favorite outfits (for casual wear) tend to have both blue and yellow in them. I am also counting variants of yellow and blue like mustard and teal. I figured it out when I pulled this outfit together for running errands the other day. It made me realize that when my clothing options became severely limited (third trimester) my favorite outfits more often than not included shades of blue and yellow.

I'm wearing:
Printed citron and white tunic - Old Navy
Wide leg jeans - Old Navy
White tank - Old navy
Pewter sandals - Target

Any one else have a favorite color combo?

P.S.  - I had to laugh at myself about the sunglasses on my head. So happy was I to have a few minutes to start a post I completely forgot that my sunglasses were there.

I have four (but three of them are cousins):

    • blue and white (blue somewhere on the cobalt-to-navy spectrum)
    • black, white, and taupe
    • black, white, and camel
    • black, white, and grey (the grey should be dark but not charcoal)
This probably describes 90% of my outfits.  Not today though, since I am daringly wearing black, grey, and camel.

    That's a really pretty blouse!

I think I have several favorite color combos. Off the top of my head:
    . black and white/cream
. navy and dark orange (like rust)
    . navy and white
    . olive and leopard
    . black and camel
    . dark red and cream
    . burgundy and olive
    . black and olive

Like the other posters, I tend to like a color paired with a neutral.  I don't like more than one color on me at a time.  Maybe a color with up to 2 other neutrals but that's max for me.
Colors would be berry, cobalt and red primarily.

  • milehighstyle (Linda) replied 10 years ago

    Blue and orange (all shades).

  • rabbit replied 10 years ago

    very nice tunic!

I'm kind of drawn to maximal pattern lately (containing a lot of colors) and I like quite a few combinations, but probably my top pairing would be a cool neutral (gray, navy/ink, black, white, silver, cool olive) with something on the pink-orange spectrum.

    Black and white/cream
    Denim and pink

I love green and white but I have very little green in the closet at the moment.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Day , that is a beautiful and fresh combination. My favorites change but right now I like citron and grey; black, blue, and white; and navy with pink.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

You look terrific! Blue and yellow are high contrast, crisp, and fresh, so no wonder that works for you.

    My favourite colour combination is...blue...and...blue???

Seriously -- in summer, I think it's blue and white (which is a neutral, so cheating).

And in winter? Colour me like Mo. One colour with one or two neutrals, and the colours could be: fuchsia, teal, cranberry or yup, you guessed it, blue!

  • deb replied 10 years ago

I have sat here for 5 minutes and cannot pick just one favorite. You look really good in this combo.

  • Alana in Canada replied 10 years ago

I really have no absolute favourites--nd I am more used to thinking of colourpairings when it comes to interior design, not clothes. But, that said, at the moment, I love deep red and white. I am trying my darndest to combine it with light blue as per Angie's ensemble post because I think it is amazing.
Speaking of--you look amazing. It's no wonder you like those colours--you look really pretty in them!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

You always look so good.  This outfit reads kind of Tory Burch to me which is a look that suits you to a T.  Classic with a little preppy and a little Boho thrown in for good measure.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

As for color combinations -- I love black and white.  Blue and white.  Coral and blue.  And blue and green.

I also love the color teal but struggle with how to combine it.  So usually it gets worn with denim or black (copout).

  • Deb replied 10 years ago

Black and white wins hands down for me.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

You look terrific in the yellow tunic! I wear my sunglasses like that all the time:)

My favorite color combos? That's hard, because I've rarely met a color I don't like. I prefer low contrast or none at all like in monochromatic or green/blue, navy/black etc. If not, I often want my colors to be complementary contrasts like navy and cognac.

    Let's see….
    Navy & black
    White & black
    White & Cream

These are probably my absolute favorites right now.

  • Staysfit replied 10 years ago

olive green and ivory, olive with denim
    ivory and camel
light rust with denim, or with the right shade of purple or olive
    beige and soft warm green

  • replied 10 years ago

I am genuinely happiest in black and white.

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

Black and gold! This translates to the colours found in leopard print in clothes--black, grey, cognac, yellow, white or cream. I use it in home decor as well, but more as accent such as upholstery for a favourite chair, accent cushions, or napkins!

  • viva replied 10 years ago

Black, white and navy. With accents of gold/wheat/tan.

You look so lovely and happy in this outfit. I love the print!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

You look great, sunnies and all. My fav summer color combo is coral and white. Not sure what my fav winter color combo will be, but I'll find out soon enough!

  • E replied 10 years ago

What a great outfit on you! Way to pull off volume over volume. :D
I can't pick one favourite colour combination: my whole closet is set up for me to do as many combinations as possible. However, I usually prefer a colour & neutral/multiple neutrals or head-to-toe colour tonal outfits (blush & burgundy, sky blue & navy, etc.) or perhaps 2 adjacent colours (blue & teal): I don't often wear a combination of colour wheel opposites.

  • Elly replied 10 years ago

Well, my favorite color is orange--- and yet as an adult I struggle the most with "what am I gonna wear this with?" to avoid looking like a pumpkin on Halloween or a Broncos fan.

My favorite color palette is all neutral --- black, navy, charcoal, warm brown, and occasionally some cream all worn together. Basically a Two Grey Hills rug!

Seriously, I've become my mother. My mom teaches elementary school and began later in life than most. When she started most of her wardrobe was black or black and white (b&w is her favorite color palette) and her students used to rave about how pretty she was when she was forced to wear the school color shirts (purple). Now she has a closet full of colorful plaids and prints. I work with a handful of women and I always get complements on the days I wear brighter colors-- personally I feel it is because they are both extremely colorful lasses with light eyes and they see me in black a lot. The BF likes me in blue, but also complements me in black and navy (he has dusty olive eyes but dark hair like me-- just a little warmer).

I like columns of black as well, and want to try a column of black with a contrasting sweater once I find the right bright chunky cardi this fall.

I have an olive coat I love, and olive shoes (another psuedo-neutral) and don't look bad in camel.

Beyond that, I find I'm happiest in the colors of SW jewelry -- turquoise and cobalt blues, peridot and malachite greens, coral and garnet reds, spiny oyster shell orange, and purple oyster shell. Generally I pair those colors with denim or black or grey, but I also don't mind mixing 2-3 darks with a light (navy, deep green, black, with turquoise).

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Those colors see beautiful on you DV - very pretty.

For me, my fave combination is black and white. No surprise there I'm sure :)

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 10 years ago

Black and white, or black and cream, are at the top. Then blue and white, fuchsia and black or white, green and gray... Probably more but those are the ones that come to mind.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

My first answer is "all of them!"  LOL  Seriously, it's hard to pick a favorite.

But... I do love olive with denim or other shades of blue, like last night's outfit for the Dodgers game.  So if I absolutely MUST pick, that 's my choice.  But I'd rather sit on the bench for this one!  ;)

  • columbine(erin) replied 10 years ago

    Fun question!
I love blues, reds, and whites together
Black, white, and a pop of mint, coral, blue, red, or lavender.
    Navy, brown, and white

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago

Blue and anything, including other shades of blue.
    BTW YLF.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

As a color-loving maximalist , I love several color combos, but for some reason the question didn't cause me any pause and my brain instantly responded, "Navy and Green"....
I think it's change over time because I can remember as a teen loving grey with either pink, burgundy or purple.
For my upcoming Ireland trip I am going with black, grey, navy, creme, deep red/burgundy,

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

I am really surprised that so many of you chose black and white as your favorite color combination. It's so high contrast yet classic.

TraceyLiz - you and I are in the same boat. I am definitely a color loving maximalist. Navy and emerald green is a favorite of mine. I am surprised you did not mention that as a combo you were going to wear on your way to Ireland.

  • replied 10 years ago

teal (or purple..or rust) and dark brown
    olive and cream
shades of green and shades of brown

  • Laurinda replied 10 years ago

So funny, when I read the question before clicking on the post I thought "Blue with Yellow". Especially when it comes to gear, like my new PFD.

[At least you were not taking a break to post while you were looking for your sunglasses ;-) ]

  • Windchime replied 10 years ago

I was smitten with navy and white this summer. But I wonder if it will appeal to me as much in cold winter? I also love cobalt and black, and black and white. A couple days ago I tried Angie's recent combination of deep red (burgundy) with pale blue and white and really liked it. So I think my favorites vary according to the season.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

This outfit is fresh and lovely on you, Day Vies! I like your elegant boho side.

I can't decide what my favorite color combo is. I really like eggplant and olive together, but it's not a combo I wear often.

  • Echo replied 10 years ago

I love, love, love navy and vibrant green together. However, I rarely wear such a combination (because I am a great big chicken). I also love cobalt and black and wear that combination often.
