WIW 10.15.13

I must be on a roll. It took less than 5 minutes to plan this outfit last night. I really wanted to wear this vivid juicy shade of green with the caveat that I had to be warm. My office is like a freezer (at least where I sit!). I love green with white, touches of gold, and blue. Yep, pretty nautical but I think this stops short of being a literal interpretation.

I'm wearing:

  • Jacket - Kasper
  • Sweater - Old Navy
  • Navy Trousers - Banana Republic Martin fit
  • Gray Pumps - Lands End

Love the outfit!  Especially the grey pumps peeking out of the pants!  I adore your bookending skills!

Gorgeous green on you - you always look fantastic!

Kelly green and navy is a classic combo that always looks fresh and professional.  Love the long line and fit of the trousers.

Hope you have a great day at your new job!

I love the color combination and the Kelly green looks fabulous.  I need to find a nice sweater in that color.

That green look gorgeous on you. You really are the master of fit, proportion and color. I love the way the charcoal and black work together with the green. The trousers are perfect in length and fit, and the jacket is absolutely superb.

You are rocking fabulous. End of story.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Very nice! I agree with thistle's observation. I study what you do so I can apply what I learn to my own outfits.

Stunning combination DV - in colour and fit.

Every detail looks perfect on you. Navy and green is a favorite color combination, but adding grey with a touch of white makes it look new and sophisticated.

Beth Ann - it's a good day at the office. I wish it were sunny. Gray skies don't exactly entice one to spend time in the great outdoors.

Citygirldc -- you know the first time I really liked this color is when I saw it on my mom about 3 or 4 years ago. She's a little darker than me but the color looked so lovely on her skintone. If that doesn't work there's always pants or skirts. About 3 weeks ago I was in a tea shop and I saw this gorgeous man wearking taprered khakis (they could have been jeans) in the same Kelly green color with a lovely navy blazer, traditional penny loafers and a crisp white shirt. Not only did he look fabulous his outfit was fabulous.

Thistle/Amy - thank you! I just love a slouchy trouser. I generally size up  one size in trousers. I think it's because my bottom half can handle lots of volume.

Angie - "Rocking fabulous" I think the sun just came out ;-)

Shannon - I'd like to be as comfortable doing this with patterns. Not sure if solds are a preference or a comfort level.

This is a gorgeous combination, Day Vies, and no matter how cold it gets in your office, you've warmed it up with style!  Yours is a beautiful shade of green.  Regarding solids and patterns, I'm recalling Inge's recent guest blogger who wore that delicious green dress and paired it with her animal print pumps.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Vicki you've got an excellent point. This green looks delicious with leopard prints. Note to self -- buy that leopard print scarf.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ooh! I love this and now I love the image of the sweater with animal print, too! Great outfit as usual. Strong, simple, clean, and beautiful.

    Beautiful DV :)

You ARE on a roll - a very stylish and fashionable roll!

:3 I am envious that all colours look so beautiful on you!

  • Windchime replied 10 years ago

The green is beautiful on you. Your gold jewelry really adds a warm luster to this look.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Perfection. Your WIWs are always a treat, and this is no exception. I love the crisp color combination. Your eye for proportions is evident asusual. I hope you kept warm!

Pretty and I love your menswear inspiration story!  I would be fun if everyone posted Pins of men and copied them.  Somewhere I think I read that you wear a petite jacket.  Is this a petite?  Do you target the top of the hipbone for the perfect jacket length?

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Great shade of green and what fun that you are putting looks together in record time!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Jeanie - Ah yes -- that man was fabulous on both levels. I think copying a man's outfit would be an interesting copycat challenge ;-) hmmm...
You are correct that I am wearing a petite jacket in this picture. The hip is a good stopping point for my jackets but it really depends on the fit through the torso and shoulders. I have jackets that stop past my hip and stop at the tops of my thighs. They all tend to have a nipped waist built into them. Longer jackets work best on me with a long leg line so I have to make sure my pants cover the tops of my shoes for that to work (at least to my eye).

Thanks DV!  You are a great teacher!
