WIW to a fall wedding

I saw the color of this tunic dress first. It is a beautiful shade of sunset orange. This is a twin to the black and white tunic I wore earlier this week.

Originally I was thinking I would pair this dress with turquoise accessories as well but I did not think that was elegant enough for a wedding so I went with pearls which are also high contrast color with the orange. I finished off the look with silver metallic heels and bracelets. What color(s) would you pair with this shade of orange?

I love how you used the pearls and metallic shoes with the vivid dress to dress it up.  Beautiful outfit for a wedding DV.

I would probably use navy with the bright orange.  I usually put a bright with a neutral.

You look lovely as always!!! Good call on pearls vs. turquoise for a wedding. Very elegant but still festive and fun.

I tend to veer towards cool colors so I would probably pair orange with a pink that matches its intensity. Or perhaps a blue if I wanted to tone it down a bit.

Well you are just all kinds of gorgeous in that dress! That tomato red just makes your skin pop and shine. I love the simple, casual, elegance of this dress. You look amazing!

    You look radiant, Day Vies.

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

Purple? Beautiful orange colour on you, and nice length--reveals your great legs without being too short.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Dianthus - I love this shade of orange with tan or beige. I love the navy suggestion, but then I've never said no to blue.

Greycat6 - I love the pink suggestion. I was actually considering a very pale pink -- almost neutral. But a fuchsia shade of pink with this orange would work as well -- it would be very mod.

Runcarla - Purple is a fabulous choice. Depending on the intensity of the shade, purple could take this outfit in many different directions. I'll have to play around with purple accessories.

Medium grey and reds are always good options with orange-- as is brown, which is probably why you look so stunning!

    One of my favorite colors.

I love your choice of silver here -- very festive and pretty. And what a great dress for the unexpected warm weather. You look lovely. I like the way the lines of the necklace echo the straps of your sandals.

Wow!!! When you said pearls, I thought it was going to be conservative - but I LOVE how you've tied those at your neck! So fun!!! I love your idea of pairing it with turquoise. I think that pairing would look outstanding. Hot pink would be fun too.

  • Nebraskim replied 10 years ago

FAB. I would echo turquoise (and add a third color of chocolate). Also think about cobalt blue. And the bright pink would be great, too.

  • Echo replied 10 years ago

Wow, this outfit is beautiful, classy and all kinds of fab. I never would have thought to wear a rope of pearls that way, and it really works and looks great. The colour is amazing on you.

I rather like this without another color competing, though I would agree that navy might work. But I'd almost be tempted to keep things more neutral with the bright dress and stick with white/cream.

    goooorgeous.

What an AMAZING color! On you especially.I'm a minimalist about color (mostly through lack of practice) so I think it looks best with the simple white and silver. But I like the idea of a blue somewhere between cobalt and navy, too.

This looks beautiful, love how you styled the dress with the pearls + shoes! I love the idea of turquoise with this color, too.

  • Kristin L replied 10 years ago

Great idea pairing pearls and silver shoes with your orange dress. That color looks fab on you! I like the purple and navy suggestions as well.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

This color is insanely amazing on you, and I love how the styling of the pearls add a twist (ha!).

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous - and I love how you've styled the pearls. Navy, purple, pink, turquoise, and beige all would be good colors with this.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

If you want "pop" hot pink &/or red are amazing with orange.

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

    Great dress!

I like the idea of turquoise with orange, but think the elegance of the pearls and the silver shoes really works for something like a wedding.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

This was a very easy dress to wear. I have loved this shade of orange since high school. I have/had lipstick and nail polish in this color. I remember being sad when I could no longer wear an orange silk camp shirt I had in the same color (it fell apart from so much love).

Elly - I love your medium gray suggestion. I really fell for brights/neons + neutrals. I am already working through gray articles of clothing in my mind.

Suz- The weather was absolutely perfect. The reception was outdoors (under the stars)on the lawn of a 19th century mansion. There was no wind, there was a perfect level of humidity and the temperature could not have been better. I've never been to an arts & crafts/ art nouveau themed wedding -- it was perfect for fall.

jackiec - I cannot take credit for coming up with a "new" way to wear a rope of pearls. I got this idea from Pinterest.

Caro - thanks for the inspiration. I love the color palette, I am mentally reviewing my closet to see if I can copy or reinterpret that outfit.

Good heavens, you look amazing in this! I think that you styled it to perfection! For more casual events, I love your idea of turquoise. I also thought that the suggestions of navy and cream (not together) were good ones.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous! The pearls make it for me!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Sounds like a wedding I went to at the Cuneo Gardens.

You look positively stunning -- mod and regal all at once.  Love the way you're wearing the pearls and the fit of the tunic is drapey but not overwhelming.

  • MsLuna replied 10 years ago

This dress is gorgeous on you, Day Vies! I think this is my first time seeing you in a tunic dress as you often poly for more fitted cuts. You wear this dress so well! Highlights your nice legs!

  • thimblelina replied 10 years ago

Really gorgeous! I love that color. You could probably just work your way through the gems: turquoise, eneralds, jade, etc against that color as a backdrop.

  • bj1111 replied 10 years ago

    LOVE the pearl as scarf

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

Wow - you look fabulous!  I love the pearl necklace with the orange dress.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Stunning!  I love the pearls , especially for a wedding...

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

WHOA...seriously stunning! I love the simplicity of that bright red frock - letting the gorgeous shape and color speak for itself. And your choice of necklace (love how you're wearing it) and footwear is just spot on.

This outfit is stunning on you, and the pearls and silver sandals are perfect for wearing to a wedding. I was also admiring the way you tied the pearls--such a creative touch and very flattering on you. Your hair is gorgeous, too.
I like a lot of the ideas you've received for pairings with orange. I do like turquoise, although I confess it always makes me thinks of Howard Johnsons motels (ubiquitous on the highways during family trips as I was growing up)! That wouldn't keep me from wearing the combo, though.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

    Wow, you look spectacular!!!!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Elegant and gorgeous! I love the way you styled the dress for a wedding. It looks like it can also be worn more casually too.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

    Beautiful in every way!

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

What happened to my comment? It must have stayed in my head only because I am sure I was oh- and ah-ing over this look days ago.

The colour looks stunning on you. And I love your hair (I always love your hair :-) ) But, how clever are you to wear the pearls in such way??

  • Angie replied 10 years ago
