WIW to celebrate with DH

Tonight was unusually muggy, but that did not stop DH and I from having a special dinner to celebrate our latest good news. I put this outfit together earlier in this post. I only changed the tee to black -- I think it works better with the bright red lip (Mochi once wrote me a script for more red in my outfits and I took her up on it). Let me know what you think. I liked this outfit -- celebratory but not overly precious. I'm wearing:

  • Old Navy tee and jacket 
  • circle skirt
  • Tahari - patent shoes 
  • White House Black Market - Statement Necklace

    Oh, so perfect! I adore this kind of ladylike outfit juxtaposed to a good denim jacket. Angie's a star at this and she taught me how to do it. You show us a perfect example. I love the beautiful shine of the statement necklace against the rougher denim and the black. I need to get a circle skirt and statement necklace so I can copy this!

    I love the pearly statement necklace juxtaposed with the denim jacket. The circle skirt is also magical. Looking as fantastic as you did, there's no way you couldn't have had a great time!

    Adelfa - DH is always saying things like "they had their chance... She's my Michelle now ..." they being the previous BFs, and Michelle referring to Michelle O. DH is very conscious of how lucky he is.

    Deborah - people seem to love this necklace. It's a few years old, isn't as shiny and bright as it used to be but I thought it was a great fit with this outfit because the patina on the silver "pearls" plays nicely with the organic texture of the denim jacket.

    Suz- Angie was definitely my muse when I put this outfit together. I was inspired by her outfits here and here.  These looks definitely fueled my desire for a full skirt. This juxtaposition suits me well especially considering my fascination with Christian Dior's "new look" from the 50's.

    Scarlet - DH and I were celebrating his new position and my upcoming admission to the bar in my state.

    Karie - the food was fabulous and the scenery was even better. I had a wonderful time and the outfit hit just the right note.

    Janet - these are separates! I love it when there's cohesion between different pieces -- so much so that it looks like a dress. 

    Shannon - I'll take sassy perfection any day coming from you!

    Angie -- getting a killer to the power of killer from the person who inspired the outfit in the first place is especially gratifying.
