WIW to Market Days

I thought Beth Ann's post about festival wear was interesting because it combines seemingly opposing forces comfort, function and fashion.  So I decided to use my go-to summer outfit and see if I could make it more functional using some of Beth Ann's ideas.

So I also wore this because of requests I had from forum members to wear the twin to this dress. I regret not adding a picture of me wearing my bronze cross body bag which came in very handy and added to the functional quotient of this outfit.

So what do you think comfy, functional and fashionable?

I'm wearing:
Old Navy, dress & cardigan
Converse All Stars in mint green

Super cute! The dress almost looks navy against the green, but I think you said it was black, correct? Either way, it has an "inky" feel that is subtly sophisticated and works well with the fun sweater and tennis shoes.

Yep Suz the dress is black. I think it looks navy because that green sweater has more blue than yellow undertones. It's another one of those versatile strappy dresses that look good with or without a topper.

    Lovely!
And we are mint Cons twins :) It was because of one of your outfits that I was inspired to get mine.

Do those mint cons have PINK SOCKS? WHOA. You go girl!

Oh yes!  Dark simple dress and a pop of color in the cardi.  I often wear the Walmart dress that I wore to Ravinia with a hot pink or blue long cardi.  I've haven't tried my Cons, yet, but as you know, these type of outfits are built from the shoes up, so perhaps I should bust my standard white Cons out for a change!   Love the spot of color on your feet!

I also love your delicate necklace, nestled as a treasure highlighting your face.  I've not been wearing my more delicate pieces, because I sometimes wonder if they, because of their scale, make me look bigger by comparison.  I can see quite clearly that this piece is very flattering on you, so I'm resolved to enjoy my few necklaces while I've got the Summer necklines to enjoy them!

Oh .... and the shade of green is luscious!

Lyn - The cons have a double tongue the outer is green like the shoe on one side and black on the other (for folding down like I did here)  the inner tongue is hot pink. My socks were plain old white.

Diane G - thank you for sharing that. I am glad you were inspired and get a lot of use out of your minty cons!

Beth Ann - I have been working on "delicate" for a while and I wasn't sure if I'd been successful or if I could pull it off. I am so glad you mentioned this because I kept rejecting the idea that only smaller women could pull off delicate pieces. (I don't want to be relegated to "strong" and "bold" all the time). Not to mention that I simply love jewelry and this was a piece I got on my honeymoon. It's a rose gold and chocolate pearl pendant and I'll never forget my mom's reaction when I first tried it on she simply loved it on me so I bought it.
I think this topic is worthy of its own thread.

I love this!! I didn't notice the shoes at first because everything else had my attention, but the Cons look GREAT!! So fun!

Love it! That pop of green looks fantastic on you.

I checked out the link to the dress twin, which I hadn't seen before. I've always avoided spaghetti straps because of the bra strap issue and never considered treating them as dresses that just get worn with toppers. How can this simple solution have evaded me??? I'm glad you posted :-)

NZ Nicola -- Thanks for the encouragement. This is why we're on the forum to share ideas and get ideas.

Fun and festive! The only thing I wondered, after attending a fest with hot air balloons and a Celtic band this weekend, can you sit on the ground or a log if you need to?

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

How about gorgeous? Comfy and functional are yours to decide but fashionable and stunning for sure.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Joy -- yes I could delicately. ;-)  I didn't do much sitting and when I did it was on a table.
