WIW to the Art Institute

I'd planned to wear another outfit which I'd already assembled but the weather was much cooler today than I anticipated. I settled on this gray and navy number because I loved the way the neckline framed my blue topaz pendant. Gray and navy are also huge this fall anyway. I enjoyed the exhibit which was on the Impressionists and their influence on fashion in 19th century Paris.

I would wear this outfit again. I loved how the detail on the blouse sort of stood in for my need for high contrast color. This outfit also gives me the chance to wear my own BR Martin fit trousers. I was admiring Sveta's this weekend and remembered that I had a pair of my own.

Thanks for looking!

Navy and grey ---- hmmmmm.  Must try!  This looks like a modern take on an "Old Hollywood" look.

Did you see the Fashion exhibit?

Wow, this is one of my favorite looks on you ever! Sophisticated and feminine.

I love this combination on you. So sophisticated and elegant. Perfect for the occasion.

I have also been surprised by the weather change. I had to retire part of my transitional capsule! But it is supposed to be warm again now for another week, so I may have to dig it out again.

Navy and grey, definitely going to remember that color combo after such an inspiring visual!  Perfection is the word that comes to mind.

    Killer

I love you in this shade of grey. It has a sheen and is quite magical against your skin tone.

Beth Ann -- I always thought that this blouse ( I have 2 other like it in white and emerald green) had a retro feel to it. I think you captured it with the "old Hollywood reference.  Yes I did see the fashion exhibit, and I've always know that people were smaller back then but dresses they showed as a real-life illustration of the paintings looked like they were worn by tweens rather than full-grown women.

Suz - the ups and downs of the weather make it difficult to confidently plan an outfit in advance. I keep asking myself what does 65 degrees feel like with low humidity? With/without a breeze? Will that jacket make me feel too warm? I almost feel like I should take notes on weather conditions so that I remember.

TraceyLiz- I saw the color combination in this month's Bazaar. Highlighting the flat gray with silver seemed like an easy tweak.

Shannon - I was going for sleek so I'm glad you see that. I was wondering as I was putting this together is it OK sometimes to want to obscure curves rather than play them up. I like to go for sleek sometimes.

Angie -- you make my smile. You're reminding my of Joy with your poetry!
