I asked for spring and got summer YAY!

Well today was a gorgeous day in my neck of the woods 84 degrees!

So today I think I finally got the hang of pattern mixing. I used inverse patterns. I picked up these black and white pieces a few weeks ago while shopping. I thought the green sweater and it's white bejeweled border tied everything together nicely.

Thanks for looking!

    You look absolutely beautiful. That sweater is so pretty!

    You did indeed! I love how the patterns enhance each other. The green cardigan is beautiful with the black and white patterned pieces, and you look so chic! I need to pin this for inspiration if that's ok with you.

    I'd like to have a fashion magazine styled just by you.

    Beautiful. Very clever pattern mix. It works because:

    - the patterns respond to one another, one being bigger than the other but in the same range;

    - the inverted play on black and white;

    - the solid emerald/blue-green cardi which both anchors and responds to the prints.

    That is a perfectly balanced pattern mix! I am so picky about mixed patterns but you nailed it. I always love seeing your outfits, you have a wonderful combination of polish and flair.

    The pattern mixing here is very sophisticated and then the pop of green adds such an element of fun and brightness. You look gorgeous in this outfit DV.

    This is so sophisticated and pretty on you! I love the pattern mix. And love it even more with that shot of colour. You look beautiful.
  • Freckles replied 10 years ago
    You certainly have a discerning eye to buy each of these pieces separately and then to put them together.  Stunning!

    You look great.  I hear you on  the weather.  Last week we were still firing up the wood stove and this week it's hitting 20C.

    I love this!  So ladylike, but very fresh and avoiding prim!  The colors and the pattern mixing are stellar.

    This is so pleasing to the eye, it must be mathematically correct or something. Gorgeous proportions, drape on the skirt, and the sweater color is beyond flattering on you!
  • styringca replied 10 years ago
    I love the color match,looks very elegant.

    Hi Day Vies --

    I read this late last night and my brain could only come up with, "Oh PRETTY"    -- this morning it's easier to echo all the above statements about the sophisticated black/white inverting and the echoing of shapes within the trim and the prints themselves.

    The green is gorgeous for spring/summer, but I have a feeling it looks great without the top layer as well. Does it work for you both ways?
  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago
    Hi Vix  -- it does. If I were going to a summer event, date or brunch I would wear it without the green sweater. The blouse is sleeveless but I would play with tucking/untucking because I would look quite short-waisted (because I am) without a topper.
