Well today was a gorgeous day in my neck of the woods 84 degrees!
So today I think I finally got the hang of pattern mixing. I used inverse patterns. I picked up these black and white pieces a few weeks ago while shopping. I thought the green sweater and it's white bejeweled border tied everything together nicely.
Thanks for looking!

- the patterns respond to one another, one being bigger than the other but in the same range;
- the inverted play on black and white;
- the solid emerald/blue-green cardi which both anchors and responds to the prints. -

That is a perfectly balanced pattern mix! I am so picky about mixed patterns but you nailed it. I always love seeing your outfits, you have a wonderful combination of polish and flair.

I read this late last night and my brain could only come up with, "Oh PRETTY" -- this morning it's easier to echo all the above statements about the sophisticated black/white inverting and the echoing of shapes within the trim and the prints themselves.
The green is gorgeous for spring/summer, but I have a feeling it looks great without the top layer as well. Does it work for you both ways? -

I am fascinated with the process of getting dressed every day -- to me this is more challenging than getting dressed for a big event because what I wear is dictated by my activities, work environment, and the weather. Living in a climate that guarantees four seasons (or at least two extremes) provides both challenges and inspiration.
