Going under the radar for awhile

This will be my last post for awhile. I have started studying for the bar exam in late July (and I hope you all are pulling for me to pass!) I will be under the radar until the beginning of August.

This is what I wore on date night with DH to see Star Trek.  I of course love the colors in this outfit. I put it together in my mind during the depths of winter. The happiness factor is pretty dog gone high with this outfit. I feel PRETTY (cue the song!)

I am wearing:
Sweater - Old Navy
Cami - Old Navy (it's a beautiful shade of red-orange)
Jeans - Eddie Bauer bootcut

Thanks for looking!

Favorite Spring Dress

Here I go again with the green, but this dress looks SO nice with green. I love this over-sized sweater I picked it up last year in fuchsia too.  This is my favorite day dress. It has butterflies on it and it's a little too big but I don't care that's why they make belts. I saw this while browsing online last year and copied the outfit almost exactly. I wear this dress the same way every time I wear it, do you have any other styling suggestions?

Dress: Old Navy
Sweater Old Navy
Shoes: red lace ballet flats  from DSW
Bag: Liz Claiborne
Belt: 7 Hills from Piperlime

Spring Green

I am apologizing in advance for the picture quality, but I could not keep this outfit to myself. I love this green pencil skirt -- I picked it up last month at BR and the peplum top was a splurge from Tahari in March. The top was perfect for today because it was spring like in that it was warm in the sun and cool in the shade. The top is made of a light wool. Tell me what you think!

WIW to date night

I have another color combo crush this season and it's navy and pink (all shades of pink and fuchsia).  I was so excited to wear this outfit. It was cool yesterday but the sweater took the chill off. I wish I had white closed toe pumps like Angie to polish this off  -- something to add to the list :-)

I'm wearing:
  • eyelet lace navy skirt - J.Crew
  • hot pink double V sweater (there is a shallow "v" on the back) Old Navy
  • Moc Croc patent pumps - Ann Klein
  • Emerald Bag - Relic from Kohl's
Finally got the pictures attached! I had to restart my computer.

Casual my way

A few weeks ago (maybe a couple months ago?)  we had a really lively conversation on the forum about what is casual. Rachylou wisely pointed out during this post that there are "normal people" and there are "fancy people" and that fancy people tend not to wear "the uniform".

I have been working on my casual style this week. Because I have casual pieces they just tend not to look very casual when I wear them. I certainly have no intention of looking or promoting frumpy, but I do want develop and maintain a casual look that is me, but looks approachable. So here's the last of my casual looks for this week. Let me know what you think!

I am wearing:
  •  a BR military style jacket
  • an old navy boat neck tee
  • dark wash skinnies from Target
  • Minty green converse all stars

Mint and cobalt -- new crush ;-)

I do tend to fall in love with color combinations. I wore this while running errands this weekend. I've been quite tired lately -- so forgive my lapse. I thought this sweater would look really nice with the Derek Lam pants I wore yesterday It's voluminous but still has some shape -- which is why I think it works so well with these skinny jeans.

Sweater - JCrew
Jeans - Old Navy Rockstar
Oxfords - Calvin Klein

Thanks for looking!

Derek Lam DesigNation pants

It took me a while to wear these. I wasn't sure what tops would work well because there is more volume in the hips and jackets and tops covering this area looked rather bulky. I tried a couple of combinations and came up with this for work today. Seems like this would have worked well for the Indiana Jones challenge last month.

I love the ponte knit fabric and they were very comfortable. I felt almost too casual for work. Tell me what you think and alternative styling suggestions are welcomed.

great find in DH's closet

Oh I've been busy. But the best part is that not-so-wonderful internship I complained about here is over and I have my Tuesdays and Thursdays all to myself.

So this jacket is a few years old. It's from H&M it belonged to DH I looked at it initially in navy for myself but I'm glad I didn't buy it because I got DH's for free --  albeit a few years later :-) I styled it with my reversible camo skinnies, ON chambray tunic and bronze crossbody bag. Let me know what you think and thanks for looking!

Summer Love

I have to hand this outfit over to summer days ahead after today but for now I am just enjoying the weather.  The skirt (BR) is a few years old and the blouse (BR) I picked up this spring. I could not resist the green and blue in the print with flutter sleeves -- a favorite detail of mine.
The yellow bag just makes me happy.  I am so glad I have it as a new workhorse accessories. Instant spring in a bag! (Literally)
