So I chose this outfit the night before and was quite satisfied with it. The next morning I wasn't too happy with it. I don't know what happened between the night before and the next day but I did not have time to change my mind. Maybe it was the fact that my hair also did not want to cooperate. Anyway this outfit eventually grew on me. I love the colors. Maybe in this case I just didn't like belting on top of the sweater. It made my hyper aware of my high waist.

Really? I happen to love this outfit. A LOT. Another high-waister here, but you pull it off with great panache. Colors are awesome and the leather belt is the cherry on top.
I didn't even look at your hair--was too busy being won over by your outfit.

Glad you DID wear this 'cause you look gorgeous (as always)... and quite tall and leggy. I see nothing wrong with your lovely high waist. (I have one too!) The berry cardigan looks so fab on you --- great color --- and I like the belting as it accentuates your beautiful curves.

I think this is perfect. The grape color on you is terrific! I also love the belt over a sweater, particularly on a high-waisted girl...gives you a tiny waist and legs that go on forever. You look great.

I am glad this outfit got the stamp of approval from the high-waisted contingent on the forum. It's not that I did not like the silhouette or the fit of this outfit -- I realize it was the experience of wearing this outfit, it was comfortable I was just self-conscious all day about the location of my belt. (too low? too high? just right?) That kind of monitoring can take the joy straight out of an outfit.
Linda - The photo is from the day of. I was able to arrange my hair into a style I was pretty satisfied with. It just was not the style I wanted. It's raining buckets here and the humidity is having its way with my hair.Mochi - speaking of humidity, how are you liking the new hair? Is it behaving in the humidity?
Nicole - Are we twins? I have the same problem and I am still smiling to myself about your wise advice, "Just keep calm and wear the darn thing!"

I don't know why on earth you would not be happy with this outfit - that berry color is just delicious on you DV and the proportions are fantastic. But I understand where you're coming from - I'm extremely high waisted myself and so am very conscious of it and am constantly trying to play with my proportions. FWIW I think this completely works in a very flattering way :)

I'm also high waisted, and you just have to embrace it for what it is, and this looks great on you! Besides, you have legs for miles, and the belting just emphasizes it!

I do understand what you mean about having to monitor your clothes and how it is the great joy destroyer. Not fun for us orderly girls to feel like we're constantly controlling outfit chaos.

Love this look. I also love the comment about how you set this out the night before, and somehow in the morning, it wasn't working. That happens to me on occasion. Sometimes it's the changed weather, or as in your case, a difficult hair day, or just a mood change means the carefully planned outfit is rejected (or nearly so) at the last minute. I wonder if it's the lighting. I plan in the evening when it's dark, but in the daylight, things look different. Course now with the time change, it's dark when I plan, and dark when I dress. Alas.
