Red, cream and a touch of blue

So this is my favorite red skirt. I chose it the night before and DH happened to really like this combination over the alternative which would have been tan and black. He said he liked the pop of blue and thought the tan turtleneck I had in mind was a little bland. I thought it was interesting that he had such a strong preference opposite my own. I thought it would be an interesting experiment to wear his preference instead of my own. What are your thoughts on the result? (DH can take it, he's a big boy ;-) )

Very pretty. Different vibe than we usually see from you, but you look great as always.

i love the simplicity of this. the white white makes the red and blue pop in a way that i think the tan would not.

I can see why that skirt is your favorite. It is absolutely beautiful on you. I like your little experiment. DH has a good eye. The pop of blue is unexpected and fun. You look amazing!

Can we also see the alternative outfit, pls? (Joking-YLF:-))

That is a really pretty skirt. I think it looks nice with the white, but I think your combo sounds lovely too.

I think DH gets credit for this, although I suspect your alternative would have worked as well!

You look elegant and lady-like and a little retro. Your combo sounds fab too, but I suspect a completely different feel.

Darling skirt and fun necklace. DH has a good eye! How did you feel in this compared to the tan and black?

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Your outfit would have been unexpected. But this one is an expected combo with a twist due to the pop of blue :). You look sleek and elegant.

You look lovely!  I would be interested to see your version, too. DHs has a lot of strong contrast, yet it is still ladylike and a hint retro. A bit different than your normal choices, but still very pretty.

I think it's a lovely combination DV, but I also think yours sound interesting too. You do look very fresh and ladylike.

I think it's beautiful!  White lights up your face and showcases a pretty necklace.  Red is energetic and feminine.  The fit on the skirt is perfect, too.  The shoes are simple, but add a bit of texture.

    Tell DH he did well!

Carter -  I agree it's a little different. I generally don't wear my twin sets together but I wanted something low contrast so the necklace would pop. I kept saying to myself I look a little "sassy librarian".

Kkards - The tan turtleneck was to be  paired with this skirt and a skinny black bow belt. I was going to do the same foot wear and hosiery. I think DH was attracted to the contrast of this look. The necklace was specifically for this look --not the tan.

Lyn67 -- you know when I get home this evening, I might be inclined to post the look I was leaning towards.

Shevia - you're a smart girl! Of course my alternative would have worked just fine.

Aquamarine -- I did feel a little retro. I am not sure if you've seen the pictures of me in my white frames but they certainly enhanced the retro vibe.

Windchime -- my only hesitation in wearing/preferring this outfit was the fact that my office runs cold and I thought I wouldn't be warm enough. The tan turtleneck is a silk nylon mohair blend, which would no doubt would have kept me warm. Surprisingly without thermals this twinset did alright.

Neel - I think you're learning that I love modern classic but I need a little something unexpected.

Love those specs! I recently got a similar style because they reminded me of my fabulously stylish aunt in her photos from the 1960s.

I think DH has a great eye, just like his wife.

That red skirt is divine. It's fresh with the white set, and pretty with the turquoise neck candy.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

    Very pretty!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

I love bright red with light blue and white, so you know I'm sold on this! I think your own idea would have been a bit less "sassy librarian", but I love libraries, so this is definitely a winner in my book;) The skirt is perfect for you - no wonder you love it.

  • replied 10 years ago

Ack! That blue necklace is so clever. looks amazing.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

I agree with Angie that this look is fresh and pretty. The skirt is wardrobe gold. But, I lovelovelove red with tan, and hope that sometime you will also show us that outfit. Did I say that I love red with tan?

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

The fit on your red skirt is perfect. The white tops are gorgeous and they are the perfect backdrop for your blue necklace. I hope in the future you'll wear the outfit you had in mind and post pics of that too!

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

I like it! The white really gives the outfit some wonderful brightness and the matching twinset is a great little nod to matchy-matchy. The blue necklace adds some additional lengthening. Hubby has a good eye :) I'm sure the other version looks fab, too.

I will probably get around to wearing my preference sometime next week. I will link back to this post to remind everyone.
