WIW 10.3.13

Well, it was muggy and gray today but I was singing "sunshine lollypops rainbows and lemon drops..." to myself. This is another one of my favorite dresses topped off with a cardi. I had this dress tailored to fit me earlier this year and it was worth every penny. Wearing a dress makes getting dressed so quick and easy in the early mornings. I'm wearing:

Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Land's End

Thanks for looking!

My jaw dropped at the sight of this dress!   It encompasses everything I obsess over in that little bridge between Art Nouveau and Art Deco.   You are absofreakin'lutely gorgeous!

Wow, that dress is all kinds of amazing.  Tailored to perfection, so flattering on you, and such an awesome pattern.  LOVE.

You looking stunning...like you will be dining with the president.  Really, colors, pattern placement, fit, it just all comes together.

When I originally saw this dress online the pattern haunted me! I couldn't get it out of my head and I was doing the happy dance when it finally came in the mail (DP is a UK company I think). Then I tried it on and realized the only way I could wear it was to have it tailored. But that was the catalyst for me to get off my butt and have about 20 pieces of clothing tailored. So I had to wait longer than I wanted to wear the dress (especially since I bat for Team Wear) but I was very happy with the results.

    Fantastic dress!

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

What an interesting, unusual pattern. Kind of baroque, or Art Deco-inspired, or maybe I'm just delusional...but no matter, the cut is killer. Of course you look ready to take on the world, as usual.

Stunning, amazing, that dress couldn't look better on you!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!! This dress is absolutely sublime on you! What a fantastic outfit. You look sensational. I like that it also seems quite cross-seasonal. With the blush and white/ grey it could work as well in spring as autumn/ winter. What a winner!

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

    Oh Wow! You look wow....

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Mochi - you are NOT delusional I see both of those elements in the pattern the level of repetition makes it a little baroque and the line/color definitely suggest Art deco, the motif itself is Art Nouveau. DP had this dress in the same style with other patterns but none were as compelling to me as this.

Suz - I agree it is cross seasonal. The color as you mentioned makes it so versatile. I got this dress at the tail end of winter. I wore it to a funeral in the spring and here it is fall (Indian Summer here) and I am still wearing it. Your words are so poetic -- thanks :-)

    oops double post

WOW!  This dress is killer on you (to borrow Angie's patented phrase!).  I love everything about this:  the fit, pattern, length.  It's just so flattering.  No wonder you were singing.

I've actually been eyeing some DP dresses myself, as they seem to have a lot of them in longer/midi lengths, but I've hesitated to buy since I wasn't familiar with the brand.  Are you happy with the quality, DV?

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Nancylee - yes I am very happy with the quality. The cotton has a little stretch to it so the fabric is forgiving and the pleating details are lovely. The dress goes into the washer/dryer just fine. I have a few other things from DP and I am always pleased with their merchandise because sometimes the garments have more detailing than the pictures actually show online.

Killer to the power of Killer - and that includes your attitude that accompanies your style.

GORGEOUS!  Having it tailored was a good call.  When you wear white it bookends your teeth, you have an amazing smile.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Wow, you look fantastic!  This is one on my favorite outfits you have ever posted. Every single thing about it is perfect!

  • DonnaF replied 10 years ago

Breathtakingly gorgeous!!!  I'm wondering if you have a *before* pic of this dress (probably not, huh?) to help those of us who lack vision (okay, me!) see the potential in a fabulous dress we love that doesn't quite fit.  I am one to pass up such new items and other than length, have only otherwise altered items that no longer fit due to weight loss.  [And by the time I got those things back, I had gained back some of the weight so it was a waste of money!]

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

I loved it the first time round, now I love it even more. I adore these sophisticated looks on you.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

DonnaF - I don't have before pics :-(  It did not occur to me until after I got my clothes back that it might be a good idea to have before and after pics.  I think you're on to something Donna with regard to shopping. That might be a great topic for a future thread. How to know when a piece has true potential vs. when you should just walk away.

I am at the hairdresser's and the people around me must be wondering what the heck is wrong with me - I just gasped out loud! You look GORGEOUS!
