WIW Date night 7.18.14

I don't think this turned out too bad for 38 weeks along. DH thought it would be nice to have dinner out and go to the theater one last time -- just the two of us and no babysitter to worry about. Not sure when DD will arrive but as I said in my last post, we're on baby watch.

This is not a maternity dress at all. I actually bought this dress in February and  wore it in this post. It fit differently of course, but I bought it with the idea that it would grow with me and be an appropriate base for me to dress up with accessories for a fancy event over the course of my pregnancy.  I think the theater qualifies as a fancy event. With the unusually mild temperatures and low humidity lately this dress was perfectly comfortable to wear. Normally temperatures and humidity would be high meaning that anything with sleeves would be a nightmare to wear.

I'm wearing:

  • Black ON dress sized 1X (purchased on clearance! YAY!)
  • Silver tone Simply Vera Wang earrings and statement necklace
  • Pewter Merona sandals from Target

Happy Saturday and thanks for looking! BTW - I included a profile photo as promised in my last post. Some ladies (including myself) were waiting for me to "look pregnant". Oddly I look more pregnant from the side than the front.

How can a woman on baby watch look so elegant!? You are amazing.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

You absolutely are glowing, girlfriend! You look fantastic - that necklace is gorgeous.

You glow, DV!! Stunning outfit. And yes, I had been thinking of just this -- that you and Thistle and AviaMariah are really lucky this season -- so often summer pregnancies must be a living hell due to humidity and heat but this year it has been so much more temperate. Definitely helps!!

Good for you for getting out at this point!
You look terrific. It's fun to see the how different the dress fits these days...what our bodies can do is pretty amazing. Feel good.

You are radiant! And definitely pregnant from the side at least! :-)

I hope you had a wonderful time.

You look positively radiant, Day Vies! Best of luck in the coming weeks. I am so glad the weather has been more cooperative. I had DS2 in August, and remember the summer weather being just miserable!

You looking fabulous -- Fresh and pretty.  Love the modern, bold jewelry and metallic sandals.

So glad you went out for the evening.  Yep, life will change -- but it will be terrific!

LAR101 - DH wanted to see a show that had come to town a few months ago, he got it stuck in his head this week that now would be the perfect time to go. I am not going to argue with that kind of logic ;-)  It definitely took my mind off the waiting game. I feel like a kid waiting for the party to start.

Kiwigal - Oh it was a blast we went to see Motown the Musical. Very difficult to sit stoically through all that good music. Dinner was sumptuous. DH got big brownie points for showing me such a good time.

Joy - Thank you! I don't feel quite like myself but it's nice to know I at least appear elegant. Normally I'd wear a heel.

Suz - Oh you hit the nail on the head. I have been SO happy that the heat and humidity have been non-existent! I think we'll get a taste of "real" summer next week, but not having to sit through it for weeks on end is a complete dream come true.

Gardenchick - the shape shifting I've been through this year has really been a lesson and a challenge. It's been an amazing ride and has forced me to be both creative and resourceful. I have to think harder to be fashionable.

Aquamarine - I know, right! If people don't see me from the side they can't tell right off that there's a baby on board. I did have a wonderful time -- I even had a good laugh with DH at the party of 8 that came and sat next to and in front of us in the theater. They were 45 minutes LATE! The woman who ended up sitting next to me asked "Did the show just start?" I wanted to say Are you crazy? What planet did to come from?  However, I was so stunned by the question all I could respond with was a frosty "no". I thought her question was ridiculous since she came in and fiddled with her phone for a minute or so and could clearly see the time (I sure could!). I'm sure her ticket like mine clearly stated showtime 7:30 p.m. WOW -- people!

Echo - I am REALLY happy about the weather. I was definitely concerned about coping with the weather when I found out my due date was in the middle of the summer. I think I'd have just stayed in and remained unclothed in front of the air conditioner had there been a heatwave :-D.

Beth Ann - I am just looking forward with anticipation to this new chapter. This was a nice way to celebrate. Our server last night was so nice. She put a birthday candle on my dessert plate and explained that because we were anticipating a birthday that the Happy Birthday Discount was in order.

Sounds like a perfect night out and reason to celebrate! That dress will be handy post partum too I think. Best wishes for you both!

    You look so beautiful.

I may miss the news about DD's arrival due to not having internet at the new address yet - but  in my thoughts I'll be on baby watch with you too :-)

    Good luck.
