WIW while networking

I have been in love with red this week. (Hi Ornella!). I put this outfit together to meet colleague for lunch and attend not one but 2 events before heading to class and yes, I did put in an 8 hour work day that started at 7am. (whew!)

So I am wearing my navy Jones New York suit with a red crew neck cardigan and cream button-down shirt. I am also wearing red patent Madden Girl shoes-- not sure you can tell. So what do you think?

Whoa! This is very stylish. The pop of red is fun and says 'approachable', while the overall effect is polished professional.

Carla -- just the kind of feedback I was looking for! Thank you. I really enjoyed wearing this.

I like the way the buttoned up cardigan looks with your suit. Fab outfit.

What a great idea to wear some red for a networking event!  People will remember you - in a good way.  Very polished and another wonderful combination of colors.

I think it looks great. Red is a great energizing colour so it's appropriate for those long days. And it's memorable as Jill says. No one will forget you!

I wore red on my daughter's adoption day. Because they'd sent us a picture of her on a red blanket, so i figured it might be familiar. I knew it was fun. And also it symbolizes luck.

Suz - I am with you on the red for luck and energy. I am just now decompressing. I don't feel tired but I certainly don't have the presence of mind for any structured activity. I wanted to be memorable too as Jill pointed out but definitely in a good way -- not in a what in the world is she wearing kind of way.

    So professional but snazzy.

    How did the event go?

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Both of the events were kind of ho-hum. The big splash was the lengthy lunch with my former classmate.

Perfectly chosen and beautiful.  Love the layering, the judicious use of color and the lovely silhouette.

Sharp and chic.  What a perfect choice!

You do "conservative-but-in-no-way-boring" so well! Another beautiful day for you!

Red and black is always lovely paired together.  I really like the bit of white near the face with the collars of the shirt peeking out.  A great idea!

Polished and professional!  You look amazing!

Red loves you right back. It is such a powerful and energizing color, yet so few can pull it off. You did so smashingly.

You look fabulous, as usual!  I like the rich red of the cardigan and the subtle callback of the patent shoes.

Adore the buttoned up cardigan layering here - very spiffy with the suit.

This outfit is both fun and polished and suits you perfectly!

    *wawing back*

Bright shirt peeking out. Faint-astic :-) I love how it highlights your face.

Are the shoes the same ones MaryK has in every colour imaginable? They look so pretty and elegant on you (too).

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Carter - conservative but in no way boring is definitely what I was going for. Perfect moniker.

Shannon - Spiffy is a good word! I think it's interesting I use "spiffy" a lot and here you've used it to describe my outfit.

Ornella - I am not at all sure if my shoes which are Madden Girl pumps are the same as Mary K's they are a covered platform heel. I saw the color and just had to have them.

I've worn a lot of red this week too - must be something in the air. The red adds a gorgeous pop of color to your outfit. I love the suit with a cardi under it - I am going to have to copy this outfit!

You've just proved to me that cardis can look crisp and professional. You really are brilliant at layering!
