Fun with solids

I am still trying to dress warmly and look like I am participating in spring. I layered a long-sleeved sweater over a short sleeve sweater. I really liked how the moss green looked against the sky blue. The navy also helps the sky blue pop and grounds the look. I thought the pearls would add a little light and point an arrow to my face. I added my butterfly pin to pick up all the colors. I promise I really do have prints in my wardrobe. :-) Thanks for looking!

The blue and green look wonderful on you and your hair totally changes your look once again. Good thinking pointing an arrow to your gorgeous face!

    SO PRETTY!!!

You just make me sigh a happy sigh with your posts, DV. I love your pretty look as much as your more eclectic and edgier looks. All very chic.

My first thought was SO PRETTY too:)
    These are my favourite colours.

I'm with Angie! I see your posts, DV, and I rush to open them. You always surprise and delight.  I just adore your style!!! And I am completely serious when I say that you are Queen of Color Mixing (I'm sure that Angie will confirm the title soon).  You always get the intensity of the mix just right.  This combo is so fresh and lovely, it just makes me smile and it completely makes me think about spring.  *happy sigh*

Indeed, fresh and lovely - DV at her usual best!
I am sure you brighten the day around you today!

My first thought, too. I just don't know how it's possible to get any prettier than you are! Your mother must be so proud of you (not just for your looks, obviously). But how can she not sigh a happy sigh when she looks at you?

I love your determination to participate in the spring that wouldn't be. You are rockin' it in that green and blue.

OMG everything about this look makes me happy!  The colors!  The necklace!  The HAIR!!

    *plonk*

Another agreement with Angie. Whenever you post a pic I know it will be a sumptious colour: fresh and vibrant.

I love your phrase "participating in spring" LOL. It's snowing here, and we're expecting 8". I, too, want to participate in spring!

You look fresh and lovely. I adore those blues/greens on you.

This is such a pretty outfit (on such a pretty lady)! The colours are all fabulous, but the necklace and the pin completely make the outfit for me. I can't wait for spring to arrive here, too!

I missed your post earlier, because I was at the Brookfield Zoo with four eleven year olds!  Wasn't it a beautiful day!  Now, I didn't look nearly as fab in my field trip gear, but I was glad to have the day out of the office.

Your look is perfect for bringing Spring into the cubicle.  Softly tailored, with a gorgeous color palette.

Angie's comment is a great reminder for us all --- "pretty" looks are just as valuable as "edgy" and "modern" ones.  You manage to do this without even appearing cutesy or twee.  Brava!

P.S. LOVE your lip coloring?  Do you mind sharing the details?
  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago
Beth Ann -- my lip color is Viva Glam III by MAC. It's a luscious matte mauve color I took the liberty of layering a clear gloss on top.

Suz -- yep, I think Mom is pretty proud for a variety of reasons but I credit her for my interest in fashion -- she loved to dress up.

K can -- I am sure the color mixing comes from my love of painting. This is just a different canvas

Angie -- Thank you! I am so glad that pretty and edgy are appreciated on the forum.

DV, I just die for this color combo. The plunging neckline of the blue sweater puts me off a bit, but the Michelle Obama hairdo wins me back.

You are doing your part to bring spring to the Forum and inspiring the rest of us to bring it to our neck of the woods. Tomorrow's forecast here is cold rain turning to snow and lows in the low 20's. It will be a challenge to stay warm and springy.
You look beautiful on those colors and the layered sweaters look cozy. The pearls really add something special as does the butterfly pin. You've made solids fascinating. No prints required.

Oh, now you've impressed me once again. This color ombination is gorgeous! The addition of the pearls is icing on the cake, and a very effective accessory. I also am in awe over your incredible hair - you seem to be able to pull off any number of gorgeous hair do's/styles, amazing. You are a beutiful woman, indeed!

I love your hair this way!

Beautiful! Lovely colour combination and such a pretty look but not juvenile..does that make sense?

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago
YLF and esp love the close up! :-)

    Absolutely fantastic colour matching! WOW!

Lovely colour combo and you look AAAmazing!

Dude! Your hair looks amazing, so soft and pretty framing your face. You are not only participating in Spring, you could be its muse!
  • replied 11 years ago
Yes, this is a pretty and strong outfit. Your hair is gorgeous, and I love the butterfly and the pearls.
  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

You are so pretty! I love how soft and feminine this is. You hair is beautiful!

GORGEOUS! You always know the right little touches to add to an outfit DV - the necklace, the layering of the blue and green, etc. Your outfit definitely says spring to me.

You also amaze me in how you can wear curly hair with a cap and a more menswear inspired outfit one day, and then go all girly the next - your style knows no bounds :)

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

You all are so complementary. I'll have to keep this short -- busy day. But something Deborah said I thought was interesting. It probably deserves its own thread. "Lovely colour combination and such a pretty look but not juvenile..does that make sense?" I think this idea completely makes sense because we've been trained to think of pretty as young, without substance or depth.  It wasn't until I joined YLF that I realized that pretty could be grown up and didn't need to be just ballarinas, pink tulle and sparkles. What do you think?

(I am also posting this in its own thread).

  • qfbrenda replied 11 years ago
"So pretty!" was exactly what came to my mind too before I read any of the comments.  I love the color combo--I'm a sucker for blue and green together--and you look fantastic.  Well done.

Stunning as usual!  Your posts are always so fresh and new.

I really adore how you add exactly the right touches to bring your outfits to life.  Agree about the hair, love how you seem to change it to suit your mood.

Thank you for such a lovely post.
