Spring finally showed up!

Today was absolutely gorgeous. It was in the low 60's in my neck of the woods. It took forever for me to put something together to take full advantage of the positive turn in the weather. As I've shared before my biggest issues are fit (does it still fit well?) and proportion. Proportion -- well, the best way for me to describe how this has affected my outfit creation is this: if the hem of my top is too high, I look like I ran out of shirt. If the hem is too low it throws off the rest of the outfit and I have to start over. To add insult to injury fit and proportion are constantly changing so even if I create a really cute outfit for today. I can't necessarily count on it working next week. Maybe it's a good thing I don't have the most active social life right now. :-)

I am wearing:

  • Kelly green ON knot front top
  • ON poppy cardigan
  • A-line denim skirt
  • Liz Claiborne leather yellow tote
  • Christian Siriano teal flats
  • All pieces are non-maternity

Still able to wear a belt at how many weeks now? You are truly amazing! You look totally fab, and the proportions look just right to me. Have you had to buy any maternity clothes yet? They are so much cuter now than when I was pregnant 227 moons ago. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

beautiful as always and I am seriously impressed that you are rockin' that belt!!!

I think you look great! I love the poppy cardigan. Your outfit looks like spring and you're glowing.

Lovely and fresh Day Vies! Enjoy the weather.

Carter --  22 weeks and a few days so trust me this belt is on it's last loop. (LOL!) It won't last much longer (3 weeks tops???). The only other belt I have that I can wear comfortably is an adjustable belt -- I can wear that one directly over the widest part of my belly. I'm planning on wearing that one tomorrow.
I have bought some maternity clothes 4 tanks, 2 maxi tank dresses and 2 banded scoop tees.
You're right maternity clothes are SO cute. I'm doing my best to hold them off  until I really need them so that I buy less. I think I'm getting close to needing pants -- but we'll see my belly bands are still doing a great job.

You are a gorgeous mum-to-be! It's so wonderful to see such a beautiful spring-like outfit. You are glowing.

Day, you look like a fresh spring breeze on a sunny day. I think that you are wise putting off maternity clothes until you need them. I got soooo sick of mine and no one warned me that I'd still be wearing them for awhile after the baby was born.

Wasn't it blissful today?  Such a relief!

Love the color and femininity in this outfit --- the shoes are particularly wonderful with that bit of shine!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Beth Ann -- today was absolutely blissful. It's as if everyone decided to go for a drive today between 1 and 2 when I left home. I guess I didn't mind the sun was out and the lake was gorgeous.

Joy - I have been gathering intelligence on post-baby tummies and bodies. I am fully expecting to live with a 4th trimester body for awhile. I just want to get back into my perfect khakis from GAP. I have 5 pairs and they are my favorite casual pant.

Lovely!  How far are you?  I think I had to switch over around 20 weeks.  I remember wearing my skirt unzipped to work. My waist has never been the same since then, despite weighing less now than before!

spring showed up but you showed out. You are a chic mom to be

I hear you on the weather. Yesterday we had a gorgeous day here in Canada too. You look great in this outfit and the shoes are awesome.

I am so impressed that you even thought about wearing a belt! You look spring like and delightful!

What a gorgeous Spring outfit. Love how colorful and fresh it looks with the green shirt and shoes and the pops of color in the sweater and bag. YLF!

Spring has nothing on you, you are radiant and looking Fab!

  • Windchime replied 10 years ago

You look so pretty in your spring clothes! I like the splash of yellow your bag adds. Hey, at least you won't outgrow your handbags during pregnancy!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Chuckling at the belt loop joke. You are looking terrific and very fresh for spring. Send that weather northeast, do you hear?  :)

  • Jenny H replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous spring outfit! So excited that actual spring weather!

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 10 years ago

So springy! I never would have thought to put the green top with that sweater but it looks really cute.

It's rainy and stormy here so it's like we're back in winter but our winter was super-mild in comparison to usual so I won't complain (and we need the water).

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

You look as fresh as spring. And if you'll forgive the cliche, your face is glowing! Just beautiful.

I also like your approach to maternity wear. Though I haven't been pregnant for a quarter century, I do remember getting weary of the oh so stretchy options after awhile.

Perfect look for spring love the A-line skirt and the belt. The green is gorgeous on you and I want that cardi.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

This outfit screams "Spring!" Fresh, cheerful and on top of it your usual feminine. Lovely.

  • Asingh replied 10 years ago

Love the outfit! So springy, DV!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Pow! Just like the explosion of cherry blossoms!

Oh yes, and the babies grow that way too every week, once they're here. Hehe.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

DV, you look radiant! Your control of the color values in this outfit is impressive. A lot of colors, but since they share the same level of intensity, none are too dominant, they look really harmonious. I'm also very impressed by your belt at 22 weeks - wow! Well done, and I'm glad you had such a lovely day. Our first day of warm Spring weather is still only a wish.
