Swishy skirt happiness

Well, I'd planned on wearing a lovely green pencil skirt with a cream and black polka dot blouse sort of like this:

but I was thwarted by water weight gain :(

Enter the swishy skirt and happy yellow sweater to make it all better. (Kinda rhymes too!) Temperatures are near 60 but started out below freezing so I over dressed a bit but that's OK (a blouse instead of a sweater would have been fine today as well).

Beautiful!  Your sweater looks citron on my screen, which makes me love it even more!

Here's to swishy!  Makes me here the old show tune, "I Enjoy Being a Girl."

    SO FAB!

I hear you on the swishy skirt happiness. Hence we should call this YOUR Happy Skirt. (I have one too). Yay Spring Swish!

I love the swishy skirt, you wear it so well. The color of your shirt makes the outfit pop and looks so springy!

Love the swishy skirt! I have that post from Jessica's blog too and I tried to style something similar a few weeks ago. Your look radiates happiness, both in the lovely colour and your smile.  :-)

That skirt is awesome! Really wish the style would come back into stores - we ladies like to swish sometimes. Would never have known a thing about this water weight you speak of.

Oh, I love the yellow on you!  And the gray with it makes it even prettier!

Alaska -- I do have citron sweater but this one isn't it -- think buttery yellow. I also happen to be wearing my nude hose for brown legs ;-)

Beth Ann - I do not know that song but the title captures exactly how I felt when I realized the benefit of switching from my green skirt to this black skirt. I lost the color but there is nothing that could be the feeling of the swish. I DO love being a girl!

Angie I think you're right -- this is my happy skirt and I have a red skirt with a similar hem. It's the pleats that give it the swishy hemline.

Karie -- I wanted to wear the yellow sweater but not with just black I felt like the pewter jacket softened the look a bit and gave it more of a spring effect.

Hedgie -- I just love Jessica's mix of dots and stripes in a modern classic style. I also love how she mixes colors and patterns. I think it was her post that first introduced me to emerald green and cheetah print.

Rae -- I completely agree with you -- I wish there were more skirts in stores with this hemline. I didn't work when I bought these skirts (fall 2009? I think)   or else I'd have more. I think it was fall '09 or '10 when feminine details became the look, flowers sculpted out of suede and added to booties, pleats and pintucking on coats and suits -- I loved it!

Swishy skirts were made for "those days." We are so distracted by the party going on around our knees that we can ignore the little puff around our bellies! You look wonderful in this one.

I love the swishy skirt!  I am another one who wishes this style (and its close relative the trumpet skirt) would come back into style.

This outfit makes me happy just looking at it.

Suz -- so true -- party at the knees makes you forget all your cares and all your worries!

Diana -- Yes, the trumpet skirt! I have a gray one and I love wearing it. I also have a fishtail skirt.

Yay for happy skirts! You look totally adorable. Feminine, fun and polished comes to mind. I admire your ability to turn any stumble stone into a new opportunity. It is one of the greatest assets to possess, in my opinion.

That does look like a vey happy swishy skirt!  I love it paired with yellow too. You look great!

Beautiful skirt and in that sunshine yellow sweater how could you feel anything but happy.

You look so beautiful in your swishy skirt! You do realize that IT's can rock a pleated skirt like no one else, I hope. Check your local thrift store if you can't find any more of these in retail.

I just love your style. You always look sharp and feminine at the same time. I love the perfect proportions, colors and neutrals you use. Keep the great outfits coming!
