WIW to run errands

So, I had a few technical difficulties this week. My dear Macbook is almost 5 years old and this is what I wore to pick up some essential accessories (battery and power cord) that gave out completely earlier this week. It's not exactly easy to post when your computer will not hold a charge. :-)

Anyway, I snapped this on the way out the door to pick up my essentials. I'd been searching for a "vegan" leather jacket in this color for a reasonable price. I happened to be running around downtown on my lunch and found this at DressBarn. Something Angie said about leaving no retail stone unturned entered my head as I triumphantly handed over my debit card. I paired this camel colored jacket with shades of blue and teal. I am also wearing my new Lands End waterproof boots. Thanks for looking and Happy Friday!

You look smashing! I very much like the combo of the cool teals with the warm cognac jacket and boots. We have a Dress Barn here and, while I do not shop there regularly, I have found more than a few cute jackets there (and at great prices). Hope you were able to resolve your computer problems.

Your winterising of the joyful orange/blue pairing is divine.

Love the blue and teal with the camel jacket!

Camel looks great on you. Good find on the jacket, it looks so good with the scarf.

What a find and you always look so polished. I love the teal with the camel...I never would have thought to put those colors together but it really works. Thanks for the inspiration.

El Cee - I agree with you. DB is not one of my go-to stops but I pop in when I'm close by because I never know what I'll find. I found my favorite (and only) red suit there. They're great for career dresses and suits. DH hates the name -- he says it makes him think of a swap meet ;-)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Ok, first you had me with the camel jacket, then cinched it with "red suit". That has been on my wish list for years. I need to check out Dress Barn.
You look amazing in that color combination. I think the camel jacket will also play well with your pinks and mint as well as navy or black.

You look so polished even when you're just running errands!
    Love the color combination.
I hope your computer is up and running better soon.

Love the combo of cool/warm tones.  You've balanced them beautifully here!  I'll pick your brain on boot choices when we meet tomorrow!  Yeah!

As for Dress Barn, I have 3 in close proximity.  There stock has gotten a little more adventurous in recent years, and, while I have to beware of dated items, or lower quality, I've found some gems there, too, like this dress:

I really love the caramel with the teal - how beautiful!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Joy -- I love your color suggestions. I will have to play around with pink and mint. I was actually excited about charcoal grays and rich chocolate tones. I see closet time in my future!

Beth Ann -- I'm excited too. And I LOVED that outfit. You look so chic and comfortable. I love that belt with the zebra print dress. It's like an exclamation point.

Very nice jacket, and I love how it bookends those boots!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

You look terrific!  And I never knew Dress Barn had such hidden treasures!  I should take a look at the one in my neck of the woods.

Beth Ann - Loving that zebra dress. That is a show stopper!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You look terrific, and fab in cognac. Glad you left no retail stone unturned.

Love this and am also preferring the term "vegan " leather over faux or pleather.

  • Von replied 10 years ago

Oooh, tell me more about the waterproof boots? I've been searching for rain boots, but they just aren't my style.

I love that jacket though. I think that faux and vegan leather has come a LONG way in recent years, and now you can hardly see or feel the difference. This is the 2nd time someone has mentioned a Dress Barn find this week - I may have to stop passing them over.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Von - I am so glad you mentioned that fact about vegan leather having come a long way. This jacket is nothing like the pleather of my youth. It's so soft, supple, and well made. I just wanted the look for less I did not expect to be so pleased with less. I might have to go back and get a gray one ;-)
I did a post last week or maybe the week before about my goodies from LandsEnd this is a link to that thread. I discuss the boots in the last paragraph. I was raving about the fact that the boots come in wide width -- apparently the calf circumference is pretty generous too because these leave plenty of room around my leg even with jeans and I do not have skinny calves either (very rarely but it does happen that I can't get a tall boot zipped)!  Room to spare around my calves in boots  rarely happens. I also scooped these up when Lands End was having a 40% off boots and shoes sale. Let me know if you need more info.

You look lovely in the camel jacket! I like the pop of color with the teal top too. Great outfit.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous as always.  I hadn't thought about teal with that shade of camel but it looks fabulous.

Very few women can wear their hair pulled back like that and look beautiful and you are obvioulsy one of them you lucky girl.  :)

    Really nice. Lovely and ladylike.

    Love these colours - YLF.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Beautiful jacket, and your entire outfit looks fabulous.

I can't imagine life without my MacBook - I hope yours is up and running again soon!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Karie -- I am on the macbook now and everything is perfect. It's great because I'm not even plugged in and I'm not worried about losing my charge.

  • Marmee replied 10 years ago

Wow!  You are errand running inspiration.  I love the tan boot color with the blue.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous camel color here and how lucky to find it in Dress Barn.  Every once in a while I find a real gem there.  And I am enjoying the browns and teals here, I just wore that myself this week.  I also think fuschia and brown could be fun to try in a remix.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

TraceyLiz- I love your suggestion for fuchsia and brown. That would look fantastic.
