Red, cream and a touch of blue

So this is my favorite red skirt. I chose it the night before and DH happened to really like this combination over the alternative which would have been tan and black. He said he liked the pop of blue and thought the tan turtleneck I had in mind was a little bland. I thought it was interesting that he had such a strong preference opposite my own. I thought it would be an interesting experiment to wear his preference instead of my own. What are your thoughts on the result? (DH can take it, he's a big boy ;-) )

What I Did to Red and White Gingham

This is the first time I've worn this shirt and I am feeling quite victorious. I figured out how to wear this to the office without it looking casual or gimmicky. The color palette is red white and blue but I don't look like I'm actively celebrating independence day.
This idea to put the BR tipped sweater over this Old Navy flannel shirt came to me on the train. I was not at all sure what it would look like on my body, but I am pleased with the result. Tell me what you think or how you have dressed up a flannel shirt.
I am loving the bonus of having access to an extra warm toasty layer that isn't a sweater or a jacket. (Go flannel!!!)

I felt like Cat Woman

So using Angie's formula, of wearing a leather blazer with a skirt and blouse to the office I came up with this. I added the patterned belt and tights for fun. Keep in mind the top and bottom are separates -- not a dress. I am not sure if  you can tell but the Me Too heels I'm wearing are a rich dark chocolate brown. This outfit was really popular yesterday and yep I felt great wearing it. I'll be doing it again ;-)

I almost didn't wear this

So I chose this outfit the night before and was quite satisfied with it. The next morning I wasn't too happy with it. I don't know what happened between the night before and the next day but I did not have time to change my mind. Maybe it was the fact that my hair also did not want to cooperate. Anyway this outfit eventually grew on me. I love the colors. Maybe in this case I just didn't like belting on top of  the sweater. It made my hyper aware of my high waist.

Silver and Chocolate

So I finally got my circa 2005 wool pants to the cleaners and back. I have always loved their deep rich brown color. I paired it with a top I'd had problems styling because it's a print.  I also happen to be wearing one of the vegan leather blazers. I thought it was a nice play on colored neutrals.
Happy Tuesday!

WIW when I wasn't sure I should wear denim

I of course wore denim anyway -- well chambray but that counts doesn't it? I wore this outfit on Friday. I wasn't feeling much like dressing up for work but I am pretty sure my office does not allow jeans.  I think it still looks pretty dressy. Way to dress up denim!

Now you, how have you stretched the rules for your office (if you work in one)?

WIW to shop w/DH

Surprisingly two of my many aunts thought it would be a great idea to get me gift cards so that I can start building my wardrobe. DH got one too for starting his new job so he went with me to shop for himself.

I am so pleased with what I found shopping today -- two more vegan jackets!  These are for indoors to be worn like blazers and I am sure you all will be seeing them soon because I can't wait to wear them.

Today's outfit was inspired by one of my pins. I thought I did a pretty good job making an exact copy (waiving at MaryK and Ingunn). I probably would not have put this color combination together myself. I'm quite happy with it because it gave me a chance to do something different with my military jacket.  Tell me what you think.
