Green and Blue

I pulled this outfit together for this past Sunday when I went to the actual brick and mortar to populate my registry. DH we discovered has a soft spot for 'lil critters. If there was a cute chubby animal printed on it he wanted it for DD. I never thought that I would have to reign him in of all people especially on baby stuff. We went out for lunch and ice cream because we felt like we deserved it after a marathon decision making session.
I'm wearing:

  • J Crew v-neck sweater in green
  • ON maternity flutter sleeve woven top in navy/chartreuse/white
  • LOFT boot cut maternity jeans
  • CROCS  in aqua (so that my feet would not give out!)  ;-)
  • Liz Claiborne yellow tote
  • Sassy Sunnies from Target in blue with cat eye shaped lenses
I took the forum's advice and added more color with my bag and sunglasses so that my shrinking universe of outfits didn't feel so small. No additional accessories because it was truly HOT that day. Happy Thusday! Thanks for looking.

So this is why I've come to like print

Yesterday I had a client meeting and this is what I wore. I bought this dress in anticipation of a cruise 2.5 years ago. I picked it up from White House Black Market (WHBM). I have always loved the scroll print perhaps now I know why. The print is excellent camouflage for my belly. I did not want my condition to become the topic of conversation in this meeting and no one was the wiser until the end when my friend and colleague inquired about how I was coming along.
I really liked the bright orange bag paired with this. I'd contemplated switching to another bag but I thought the orange was a nice counter point to the blue stripes.
What about you? Anyone else out there formerly anti-print (who have since seen the light -- cue the angels singing ;-))?

The incredible shrinking wardrobe

This was a rather quiet week. I have been spending more time sleeping during the day and when I'm not sleeping I'm researching products for my registry. So I apologize for my absence from the forum.

So this week, I finally put away my turtlenecks and heavy sweaters and winter gear (yay!). I think this is the latest I have ever waited. I have also stored items I just can't wear and won't be wearing anytime soon. That leaves a small universe of items I wear again and again. (I've spared you the photos!) Perhaps I'm a little sad that my big fun wardrobe has shrunk so much and I have to work a lot harder to create looks that are me, fit my bump and other parts that have grown, and are weather appropriate.

In #1 I wore this yesterday. We got a nice sampling of summer-like weather. So I pulled out my favorite butterfly dress from ON and paired it with an ON boyfriend sweater in fuchsia. My flats are cobalt and fuchsia suede Enzo Angiolini. Not pictured is my orange tote I carried

In #2 I wore this ON tunic earlier this week. I believe Karie has a top with this exact print. I mixed it up a little by wearing a pair of gray/cream houndstooth flats with a big metallic bow at the toe. I am also wearing skinny jeans I picked up from target about 5 years ago (I can't believe they still zip! Then again I did buy them 3 sizes up.)

As always suggestions ( to lift me out of boredom with my wardrobe!) and feedback are welcomed. Happy Mother's Day Weekend to all!

Navy and white with a little black

So I don't think it's absolutely necessary for me to invest in a pair of white maternity jeans. Especially since I have a little over 3 months to go. Elizabeth P. did a great pinsperation this past week with white jeans and admittedly I was inspired to pull out my white jeans and see what I could possibly do with them to attempt a copy. I also think this is a great formula.

So none of what I'm wearing is maternity wear -- I'll be able to pull this out again (yay!) after the baby is born. I wore this on a date night adventure yesterday. We tried out a new restaurant -- the food was fabulous. It was actually in my old  neighborhood -- boy has it changed (for the better!). I am wearing:

  • White Eddie Bauer wide-leg jeans
  • Dark blue Old Navy chambray tunic
  • Black Old Navy tank
  • Vera Wang Ballet flats.

All feedback is welcomed and also suggestions for improvement.

Back to basics - What's your no-fail formula?

This is a nifty formula I've picked up since joining the forum. It never fails and always looks appropriate: striped top, jeans and jacket. I've used this formula for business casual looks too. Of course different fits and fabrications will vary the look but this formula never gets old and always seems to work. I'm wearing:

  • ON cream & black bateau tee
  • ON maternity BF jeans
  • H&M military jacket in olive (courtesy of DH's closet)
  • Vera Wang python print ballet flats
Any other suggestions for no-fail formulas?

I feel like myself!

I think maybe I've got the proportions right finally -- so regardless of what my tummy is doing from week to week I can get dressed without trying to reinvent the wheel.
#1 Skinny jeans just don't do it for me. They're nice but as the weather warms up this silhouette isn't going to be my most flattering
#2 I need tops that stop right about my crotch or slightly below fitted is better (snug would be a disaster ;-))
#3 Bootcut, boyfriend or wide leg jeans & trousers work best (pregnant or not). I am so glad I ordered a new pair of jeans from LOFT I believe it was K.Period. (Thank you!!!) who told me they offer maternity clothes. I had been putting off getting jeans because I was afraid the inseams would be too short and the hips would be cut far too wide. The 33" inseam is perfect and that is exactly what LOFT offers. I am in heaven. I'm wearing:

  • ON cami in lavender
  • ON cardi with gray cheetah print
  • LOFT maternity jeans
  • Vera Wang Lavender Ballet flats

How do you like my new boot cuts?

Navy fuchsia and lace

Now that the snow is gone (for now ;-)) I can wear some of the outfits I put together on Monday. I was thinking of spring flowers when I put this outfit together. I'm wearing:

  • dark navy skinny jeans
  • Elle black and cream striped tee with lace
  • ON fuchsia cardigan
  • Vera Wang Ballet flats
Thank you Krista for introducing me to design-seeds I would never have dreamed this outfit up without that inspiration!

Favorite Dress Remixed

This is my favorite dress. It's Old Navy and I've had it for the past 3 or 4 years. The last time I wore it and posted on the forum I revealed that I rarely wore the dress in any different way. I took some of your suggestions and came up with this. I am really happy this dress still fits (because I bought it so HUGE!). I think I will be able to wear it right up until delivery. The saving grace is this dress is fit and flare and lends itself to being cinched at the waist with a belt.

In #1 & #2 I'm wearing:

  • ON butterfly printed dress
  • ON denim jacket
  • Mossimo woven belt
  • Vintage yellow and white striped scarf
  • Vera Wang snake embossed ballet flats
  • Kenneth Cole Reaction orange tote

Pic #3 is my normal way of wearing this dress - your thoughts and suggestions?

Mostly Neutral for Early Spring

I love a black white gray and cognac color combo. For someone who adores color it is surprising that I love this near absence of color. Maybe because the neutrals allow the orange tones to really stand out.

So it's not quite low 60's and it will probably get cooler once the sun goes down  so I have 2 alternatives for today. Currently it's about 55 degrees so it's probably going to be warm in the car -- no need for a coat, but it's cool so I'm wearing a wool sweater. As for now I am leaving to run errands as soon as I post so ballet flats will rule for now. However the boots are a nice backup for the evening when the temps will drop. I was playing around in my closet yesterday (the effort was tiring so I did not make it out as I had intended -- growing a baby is hard work ;-)!)

(No maternity clothes in sight!) I'm wearing:

  • BR wool open front cardi
  • ON scoop neck stretch tee in black
  • ON black and cream tribal print midi skirt
  • 7 Hills braided leather belt
  • Vera Wang silver snake print embossed ballet flat
  • Miz Mooz cognac boot
  • Kenneth Cole reaction orange tote

I just couldn't stay away

Perhaps it was my utter boredom with my skinny jeans combined with the gloomy weather today -- Friday of all days. I had a doctor's appointment this morning and did not feel motivated to leave the house. I knew I had to change things up, so I unearthed my floor skimming trousers jeans which aren't nearly as stretchy as my skinny jeans. I missed the long line they created because I'd given up on them in February when I could no longer zip or button them. However, thanks to a hair band and a belly band my pants are securely in place and I've got my signature look back. (YAY!)

I thought it might be nice to try an outfit with secondary colors. Especially since it's so cool out and doesn't look or feel like spring. The colors are more fall but they are compelling -- which is always the goal. I'm wearing and entire Old Navy outfit albeit from different years.

  • ON dark wash trouser jeans (non-maternity)
  • ON indigo knit jersey turtle neck
  • ON olive green shawl collar cardi
  • Miz Mooz tall cognac boots
  • Kenneth Cole Reaction orange tote
Let me know what you think!
